Natural Selection 2

For those who don't know about Natural Selection head here.

For those who have played the original are you excited to see the 2nd one coming out finally? I know that I have had more fun times playing NS then any other HL mod. My only complaint is that it never made it to source. I just wanted to see if anyone else shares my love for this game.

Never heard of it, but it looks cool. What is the story/premise?

Basically it's Marines vs. Aliens. The Aliens Objective is to get rid of the marines and the marines to get rid of the aliens. The marines start with just a commanders chair. The chair allows 1 person to basically get a RTS with real people as units. They can drop buildings, ammo, weapons, and give orders to the team. The aliens do not have a commander but can evolve into more powerful aliens to fight the marines. I'm not explaining it very well but it is alot of fun.

So it's a Single-Player RTC? I was hoping it was an MMORTS or FPS

I described it wrong. It is an FPS. Only 1 person gets an RTS setting. The website is much better as describing it. The original NS is free to download and play on steam.

I'm excited, but I still wish it were a mod so I wouldn't have to buy it. However, there is one thing I would like, and that is a little better system for Alien upgrades. The first one was great for small LAN parties, but when you tried going Aliens on a large internet server, it took forever before you could gestate.

Hey at least it was better than beta. In beta playing on aliens was a one way ticket to death.

I hadn't heard of this until I went to ModDB and all I saw was the taser gun they're going to make. That was enough to get me interested.

I have such fond memories of playing that game, oh god..

I salivate thinking about the potential of the second one!

I can still remember how much yelling would go on the mic when an onos would run in. Also I remember trying to kill one with a welder.

Kind of mad we have to buy it this time around. But if it's on steam which I know it will be I will buy it.

If not they will miss out on a lot of customers. Steam advertises it a lot more than a site with a direct download.

lol. I have HL1 but it's on a separate account. So if I want to play NS or anything I need to log out and back in on that account. Also the game is going to be 19.99 for those who didn't click through to the site.

I know this thread is old but I've been checking up on this mod every month since they announced the preorder. NS1 was so good. If i'm not mistaken I thought they said originally that when they decided to do it on their own engine it was only gonna be like 9.99 on steam

Oh well i'll still pay full price for it cuz its a must have. Just wish they weren't taking soooooo long.
