buy a laptop or not

hi
so the thing is i have a computer with : Motherboard: Asus P5WDH-DEL
:2 GB G.Skill ddr2 ram/memory
:Grafics card :Asus EAX1650Silent 512MB
:Quad-core 6600 4x2.4 ghz
:400 samung Gard drive
: and windows xp
i put my computer together with my brother
and ether i should update that

i am not sure about the grafics card in the laptop and i am not that good with pc things but atm i have 530euros i have saved and i dont know what to spend it on a laptop or updating my pc and any idears for updating my pc would be very helpful and if any of you play on a laptop please write what you think of playing on one or if its good or bad or personal opinions

so i am gonna ask what you guys and galls think about the laptop because my computer is still ok and can run all my games and i thought of this idear ill buy the laptop and upgrade my computer bit by bit ?

I don't much care for laptops. I've seen many battery and heating problems in some of the most high end laptops. Buddy of mine has 5 grand worth of Alienware laptop that he's using as a door stop.
They get moved around a lot, bumped and banged, bounced and trounced. If I were you I'd forgo the laptop and upgrade your desktop. If you still want a laptop, buy a cheap one that your not going to be using for gaming, just using as support for your desktop.
 
Desktop > Laptop in almost every way for gaming purposes other than portability, of course. Many of which were mentioned by Un4Gvn.

A huge plus of a Desktop is the ability to upgrade.

You can upgrade a lappy, but the choices are severely limited and a pain in the neck to physically do depending on the part.
 
ya when your gaming you wont want to do it on a laptop anyways

what i would do is a desktop and netbook cause when your out and need to use a computer it will most likely only be for communication or something fairly basic so you don't really need that much power in your portable system
 
I would say 100% go with a desktop.
Unless you have some very good reasons to get a laptop, it's simply not worth it. Yea it's cool to have in college to "show off" ... but everyone has one ;)

You could probably upgrade your current desktop and still have some $$ leftover for some other things. Who knows :)

Go for a desktop. I'm one of those who bought a 2500 alienware and its now sitting in the garage. Can't upgrade a laptop as you can with a desktop.
 
i get all of your points and i am really dont know what to do because i was gonna buy a laptop before i bought the compter
and i was convinced by the people i asked in ventrilo and my brother is was not the best idear to by a laptop as said above because it would just get old fast and be a doormat.
but i just want to try i laptop and i am not sure if it is the right thing or not but this may sound realy stupid okey i saved my 500euro since christhmas and i know its sounds wasty and like i am a spoiled child but i might buy the laptop and uppgrade my compter after so i have like to systems,

but i am really confused and dont know what to do and i dont know how long the laptop offer is :/
 
Desktop would be better dude, laptop is used only for college and since your still 15, you still have time.
I am sure by the time you get to college, you will have already have enough for another laptop.
So just go with the Desktop upgrading
 
honestly that laptop isnt that good......8200m gs?? that is a pretty bad graphics card. You already have a good CPU Q6600 if you overclock it. I have mine at 3.7 ghz instead of 2.4 ghz but u need to get an aftermarket cooler. I would also just upgrade your graphics card, get an ATI 4890, it is very cheap now with rebates around 160 us dollars was lowest i found. Overclock ur cpu and buy a new graphics card like that and you'll be set for a while. If you need a laptop then get a good one atleast, asus is selling a very very good laptop for 1,000 us dollars. Has like a P8700 and a GTX 260m. It is something like the asus G-71XXX i dont really remember tho but its worth it.
 
laptops are nice to have but i wouldn't bother using one for gaming for a few reasons small keyboard, small display, and upgrading. also the advantage of laptops is portability and if you get one with a really powerful processor and gpu it wont be so portable anymore because it will have shit battery life.

iv always had both a desktop i built myself and a mid to low range laptop. if you got a desktop to support it you dont have to get as good as laptop. example i am able to get away with olny a 250gb harddrive in the laptop because i got the desktop with a tb that carries most of my stuff and 2gb ram because i dont game on it and dont run windows on it.
 
if your a big gammer man you wont wanna do it on a laptop i can promise you that, i would probally go with desktop now maybe you could buy a laptop for just like in bed when you dont feel like getting up to using the desktop but go with the desktop for gaming

These parts are the parts i'm actually looking to get for my new computer. Don't overclock anything, and I can give you 10 reasons why over clocking is considered an early death to your computer. Keep everything at factory setting, those parts should work together fine, the graphics card is unbelieveable and the price is something you can't really pass up on.
If some of you are wondering why I chose parts that are much more upgraded then what he needs is because these parts will last him at least 2 years without needing to upgrade, and the reason why I chose 6 gigs of ram is because he told me that he's probably going to pre-order windows 7 and it's going to need at least 4 gigs of ram.
