So, today, I made a knife skin, and it took me a couple hours, it wasn't that hard, it's just a custom knife, with default animations, still trying to change those though. BUT! The problem is... When I go into source SDK and into the model viewer, and go to the skin, it works perfectly! But ingame, it doesn't show anything... I have no idea why, my models/weapons folder is empty, I only have a vtf, and a text document (Idk if that's the problem, because it's suppose to be a vmt) inside my v_models folder, and that's all... I'm kind of stuck on what I have to do. Basically my v_models folder looks like this...

knife_t (Knife Skin Folder)
knife_t.vmt text document
knife_t.vtf vtf file

The text document says this: VertexLitGeneric
{
"$basetexture" "models\weapons\v_models\knife_t\knife_t"
}

I have no idea, what to do, idk if I need another file, or what, but here's the link of where the DevHub is on fpsbanana, it has the files I used and edited.
This is the link to the models: I don't remember where I got my models at, can't find it.
This is the link to the animations:http://www.fpsbanana.com/models/135

Thanks, hope someone can help.

You need both VTF and VMT files as well as the script/resource files. Make sure the VMTs and VTFs are named correctly to the script/resource file else it wont load up the materials and cause them not to be there.

I have the VMT and VTF files all correct, but as I've been looking through fpsbanana, and have seen some of the other complete knife skins, it has a.. Example: knife_t_ref file in it, it's like another picture but it's different, and every skin I've seen has one, what do I do to make one, or do I even need it?

Good, I had a simalair problem when I made a sniper rifle skin on TF2 where the model turned out to be invisible, world and view models. So I ended up having to delete the .vmt's
