Anyone using ubuntu?

ya SuSE, ubuntu, fedora are all excellent operating systems and the majority of software on them i prefer to any windows or mac alternative but if your just going to play games just go with windows.

and when you install 7 or your old vista or what ever just format the partition your putting it on.

You use the Windows 7 bootdisk, during the install you will be prompted to choose which hard drive to put Windows on, at the bottom right corner you will see "Drive Options (advanced)," that directory gives you the option to create new volumes and format whichever hard drive you want to use.

how would i go about formatting my harddrive? :o
only way i know how is in the ubuntu installation which formats it THEN installs ubuntu on it

when you install windows there is a tool there to format it.

or you can format in advaced using gparted which is in ubuntu

alright :]

thanks guys i appreciate the help and everything. worst case scenario, it bluescreens me out of trying to install any other OS again, and i have to stick with ubuntu. Ill repost and tell you how it went later.

Something to consider as well Tofu, my friend utilized a virtual machine to emulate Windows for some programs/games and found performance was solid (and that was on a 6 or 7 year old laptop).

Not everyone will experience the same results, but it is worth a try, atleast.

there are no virtualization programs that have full and stable directx support.
