Up front and foremost, I would like to say I am sorry for disappearing as I did. I ran into a little, well, quite costly to be honest, problem and was not able to access a computer to post sooner. My work computers have every non-essential thing blocked so I am pretty much high and dry there.

A couple weeks ago, we had a freak storm blow through the area and my home took a direct hit by a bolt of lightning. There was no fire damage but just about every piece of electronic equipment in my house was fried. This included 2 iMacs, 1 laptop that my kid plugged in to charge, 3 every day computers and my main gaming rig. From what everyone can tell, the lightning hit centered on my office where most of the stuff was located. I have managed to scrape together the few working parts and purchase the rest to finally get back running. It would have been sooner but the most needed items were replaced. (Things like the heat pump/AC, dryer, kitchen appliances....)

Anywho. I once again apologize for my abrupt absence. I am back and expecting full retribution if any comes my way. Thank you for understanding and not lynching me as of yet. :)

Don't worry. Nobody will be upset that you had some time off. Edgegamers has always had a firm belief that real life comes first.

I am really sorry to hear about your lightning situation. That sounds really terrible. Good luck with getting back online.

Sorry to hear about what happened. I couldn't imagine what that would feel like to lose all your PC's (and Macs). And I really mean that. So much valuable data would be lost.

I hope everything turns out ok and that you can recover as much as you can!

It sucks more then one could ever imagine. And I am slowly beginning to learn that insurance companies hire some of the most idiotic people on the planet. Well, not quite but at least the one I am working with.

The insurance "guru" agent of mine has the claim settling IQ of a door knob. My claim is being split into 2 parts. APC is covering the computers and misc related equipment that was connected to them (minus laptop). Glad I registered those Back-UPS. The insurance company is handling the TVs, appliances, and Heat Pump/AC. All is OK so far, I even got the AC flowing again about 45 minutes ago.

Now, let us get back to the "guru" working on my claim. He has gone over everything.

--AC, check!
--Dryer, check!
--Home theater system with HD TV, DVR and more, check!
--Entertainment system with the 360, Wii, HD TV and massive surround sound, check!
--Kitchen appliances, check!
--$150 miniature LCD TV in the kids room with a super el cheapo DVD player... disputed?

And it is disputed why? Because the DVD was list at $30. It was a WalMart special the was purchased so my kid could watch a couple movies every few weeks when a friend came over. This "guru" is claiming that the $30 price was falsely listed because they show it priced at about $15 more on the 2 year old reference sheet he has. I am waiting on a call back from his superior guru so that I can get it corrected or removed from the list. And to top it all off, they have copies of the receipts for every item in my home that is covered.

Man, Some times I wish I would have never became older and burdened with the responsibilities of making sure I do things properly.

Welcome back, lightning is the real enemy of all computers...other than over heating of course. :D

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. :(
Welcome back & I hope that things get back to normal for you soon.

Welcome back! I'm sorry for your loss, but at least you still have your family. Everything lost is replaceable, so lets be thankful of that. Also, i hope to see you in game! TF2 = stress releif. Lets face it, its a game, play it to have fun and get your mind off of things! See ya around!
