Hi this problem is new. I was playing CSS last night and it was working fine, but then this morning it started to lag and black out for 5 seconds and came back into the game and it kept doing this. Any help? And it does that with ALL my games now. Is it my internet connection? Or my Computer? :(

EDIT: I already uninstalled CS:S, and it didn't work. And this never happened before

If it's on Steam, try defragmenting the cache files, Steams should tell you to do it but sometimes you have to do it your self. And If that doesn't work....then try re-installing Steam.

L4D did this to me before and I had to re-install Steamto fix it.

Ok i did that. So do i have to log out then log back in or what? I'm sorry guys i'm really not the techy person yet

i would try a new power system maybe but it is gunna be costy then that will probally fix it.. has your warranty expired?

Try updating your drivers. When L4D did this to me that fixed it.
My drivers? And my power system? This is a laptop so i don't think i can change that and yes it has. Anyway, i'm going to try deleting the blob file if not then i'll have to reinstall steam

lol Orangejuice, I love how you respond to this thread but not to the one concerning your own problem. Also, what gives you the idea the power supply is the issue? Seeing as it's a new issue, the problem here has nothing to do with power consumption.

@ OP: I second the recommendation for driver updates. When you say all games do this now, does this include games outside of Steam?

Hmm, if it's just your Steam games, that would indicate an issue with the Steam client. However, it's always good policy to update drivers, let me know which graphics card you are using (start>run>dxdiag>display>name) and I'll provide a link to the drivers. Try a file cache integrity check on the games in Steam, if you haven't done so already, it's under the same menu as the defragment files option. It's looking more and more like a Steam reinstall would solve the issue though.

Well i don't have a graphics card, so....yeah. And i did the integrity check, what was that supposed to do? And yeah i think a reinstall would really help

Well, the only option i see is reinstalling. I'm going to wait until tomorrow to do it in case there are any other ways.

By graphics card, I mean chipset, any ATI mobility chip/Nvidia m-series or Intel GMA graphics. Post back what you have.

Ahh... I checked, and i couldn't find it. Note that i have Vista, so yeah just fyi. And i already reinstalled Steam, so i'm gonna check if that works. If not, then i hope your still here to help me :)

Yeah, most people don't have "Run" in their start menu for Vista, just do a search of "Run" in the start menu and use the previous instructions. I'll be on for some time, we'll get this fixed.
