Skin cancer

This seems a bit personal for a gaming community website. But nevertheless, i'm very sorry to hear that. I hope she is able to pull through it and be ok. I'm not really sure if cancer is hereditary(sp?) or not. But I do hope that neither you nor anyone else in your family gets cancer. I wish your mom all the best.

I know melanoma is genetic, not sure about the other 2 main types.

Also as TheEnd said this does seem a little personal...you can probably find more info using google, than asking about it here.

I'm sorry to hear that.

Skin Cancer usually develops from over exposure to the sun. There are some genetic markers that may increase the chance of getting skin cancer. The best advice is to avoid long exposure to the sun and when that is unavoidable wear sunscreen.

With all cancers there are certain genetic markers that are carried through families. With skin cancer there is more of an external factor that comes into play, also what type plays a big factor too.

I wont get too into it, this is a gaming forum. Just bare in mind that if there is a marker in your family then your three times as likely to develop cancer.

Unfortunately I had to ask the same question to my Doctor recently due to a similar issue in my family. They said most cancer types do not carry down genetically. But if you do smoke give up now.

Do as much research as you can on the subject and am sorry for the unfortunate news.

I know its a personal question but like they said we are all in a way like family long lost family so.. i wanted to ask you cause ive been searching all day and nothing i looked at the skin cancer society it was just to confusing to me theres over 1000 of you guys and yeah lots of people that may have a answer...

Orangejuice25, I think that this kind of cancer isn't in those one that are hereditary. Breast cancer by example is a kind of cancer that have more risk of hereditary.

I really wish all the best to your mom and give her alot of support. My mom did had breast cancer 10 year ago and she won her battle. Stay positive in spite of this bad news, she will win too !!!

yeah someone says it was against the rules so
Humm, wich rules were broken here? Maybe i'm wrong, and if a moderator see this post, please correct me if i'm not right but I ain't see nothing wrong with this post. You are in off topics, so I suggest you to don't worry about that dude, if so a moderator will do what he as to do ;)

I have fought colon cancer 2 times, and i want you to have this bit of advice.

Whenever you are around the person with cancer, act as if you are in a good mood, joke and play with them as if nothing is wrong, just like always.

When my family and friends were around me, they acted depressed and what not, and it kind of brought me down a bit. I wanted them to be normal, treat me as i was always treated. This does not mean, dont do whatever could possibly help, just remember when a person is in good spirits, well as best as can be expected, they have a better chance to heal quicker.

I am sorry for what has happened, and will pray for you and your family....
