Heroes of Newerth

Sup. I'm wondering if anyone here has played the new DotA look-a-like game called Heroes of Newerth or (HoN).

I got my beta key last week and I think the game looks cool, and it has the same abilities on the heroes from DotA so that's very good and funny.

Yes I've been playing for about a week now and it's looking good. The Beta is going smoothly. I also would like to note that there is no word out anywhere that this game is going to be released for purchase. Right now it is in beta...

I love dota play it all the time but whats the point when the graphics are already decient and you basicly paying for the same game but you get that 10% better graphics.....

The gameplay isn't the same as DotA at all. They've just got similarities.

But LoL is changing the game play from DotA way too much (especially with using mmo aspects of it and reduce in recipes/gold system). The graphics also seem dated for being a new release game. I've also heard from people that Hero selection of LoL is smaller than that of DotA and HoN. (but this is what I've heard from people in HoN so bias may persist). If LoL will be free and it is incorporating mmo aspects, there will be most likely places where people who pay for something will get an advantage over others.

The problem with changing the game from a DotA clone is, people are expecting a DotA clone. They want it to play just like the original and when there are major differences it fails to bring people away from DotA. LoL will be that 100x better if you aren't looking to play an updated DotA.

HoN is just like DotA. The game play is exactly the same, with minor differences in some heroes. However, they do plan to implement more maps and game modes to give play a bigger variety. I have no reason to buy WC3 just for DotA (as I used to play on my older bros account) I'll go for the newer game HoN when it comes out. But for DotA fan boys/girls a few maps and better graphics may not be your boat.

You are about to play a stand alone DotA based game. We have asked IceFrog if he had any objections to this and he did not, he is ok with it. Heroes of Newerth contains both content very similiar to DOTA and brand new content of S2 Games' creation.

They come out and say it is a DotA clone right away.

Eh, DotA can't be beat. Yeah, it may only have 1 map, and a small community now, but it's like Super Mario Bros. It's just a classic game. The graphics may change, and the game play may be slightly altered, but it won't have the balance of fun and challenge that DotA has.

DotA is amazing, this looks pretty good. Can't wait to play it. I have heard it does have a overall different feel but its basically a face lift.
