Well my friend just got a laptop and everything gets installed into the C drive like normal. But the C drive is the cd drive with only 50 gbs on it, and the D drive is the one with 250 gbs. He cant change the install direction with some games because they wont work unless they are in the C dive. Is there a way to fix this like but memory in the C drive or maybe switch them around?

lolwut?

let me make sure i got this right...

The laptop has 2(two) harddrives. Windows was installed on the smaller drive with a capacity of only 50gb. The second, neglected drive, is 250gb. You want to change the default path of 'Program Files' to reside on the larger drive. You do not want to install Windows over again.

If that is correct, here is the solution:

  1. make a new 'Program Files' folder in the desired location
  2. start -> run -> type 'regedit'
  3. file -> export -> type in a name and save.
  4. find HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion
  5. in the right hand side find 'ProgramFilesDir', double click
  6. type in the path to the new folder in step 1
