Beginning at 6:00 pm Pacific time Thursday August 6th, we will be performing software maintenance on some Steam servers. We expect the resulting downtime to last three hours at most, putting the end of the window at 9:00 pm Pacific time.

Some Steam services will be offline during this time. Affected services will include the Steam Community, in-game matchmaking or lobbies, downloading games from Steam content servers, and making purchases from the Steam store. Games that do not rely on Steam matchmaking services should remain playable.

News updates and any further information will be posted in this space.

We will work to make this downtime as short as possible. Thank you for your patience!

Just incase you guys haven't read it yet.
Anyways, I noticed we have some events planned that night such as DoD:S Wild Card Night and TF2 Advanced Admin Training Class
What will become of those events? :(

DOD and TF2 do not use matchmaking services, people can still connect to eGO servers. Only games like Left 4 Dead will be affected.

I'm sure the events will go ahead using the forums and vent for communication.

ya the only things with the downtime that would affect tf2 and dod would be steam friends/community would be down so no achievements

Thanks for the heads up Allster. TF2 Advanced Admin training will still go on. I'll just have to PM the information on the site instead of using Steam Friends like I usually do.

And it will be a little harder to recruit during that window. I find it much easier to recruit the person if I can get them added on steam.

yeah i saw the news and assumed that it was for all games, good to hear that is not the case.

Alrighty, thank you for clearing that up kind sir.

That's kind of odd to do maintenance during peak hours.

That's Valve for you! I've never seen them do something the easy way when a slightly more dumb and difficult way is available.

I'm just glad to see that the maintenance window only effects everything you do with Steam.
