Yeah, sorry to hear that...Only my GTX260 will display the 'folding'..my others don't like the stress and bad stuff starts to happen :scared:. As long as I leave those alone to do their thing...all is good in the world of folding...

Hmmm thats really odd, I wish I could help you but I already told you everything I know :)

Maybe you could try posting on the folding.stanford.edu forums. I'm sure they could give you a definite answer right away...
 
It's absolutely hilarious to download GPU, and have a bit of fun.

So what I did:

Downloaded GPU, installed etc.
1: Turned on SpeedFan(Free program that moniters and cranks up your fans).
2: Turned GPU to max, turned all Fans to Max(sounds a bit like a jet engine now hahaha.)
3: Watched myself power through the WUs.

Oh this is so fun.

I'm updating drivers of my graphics card right now, it's been a month ago I've updated :scared: I'll see what that does.

edit: didn't work. I think I'm gonna stick with my CPU only. It currently does 1200PPD which I recon is good enough.

edit2: for some reason it's working better now...

Well had a bit of an issue while tweaking my cooling system today, CPU cooler is out of commission until I can get some time to repair it. That means I wont be able to start folding again until tuesday/wednesday..... Im bummed, this just ruined my weekend :crying:

PS: if anyone has a spare apogee gtz water block and is willing to overnight it to me then shoot me a pm! (fat chance, but it is always worth a try :) )

Oh man, Sorry to hear that....all my stuff is air cooled so I can't help you there.....hope you get it all sorted out and get back on-track!! :)
I may have sold 2 of my gaming/'folding' systems....which is a bummer in that I won't be able to pump out the massive WU's I've gotten used to...'til that happens - still gonna be folding away!!
 
Soon to be top 7,000. My expectations were apparently far too low for you crazy bastages.


Incidentally: I'm getting a recurring strange error with the GPU client. Something about a zero sum something or other I don't know, I should have paid more attention to it, but at any rate it cancels the entire WU and I have to start over. It's only completed 1 WU in like a week. I'll try to get the exact error message later tonight when I'm at home, still house sitting for 2 more days.

But, as far as the team goes: I'm saying top 5,000 7-10 days from today. At this rate, totally doable. Let's make it happen peeps.

Just don't ask me what marshmallow birds have to do with it all.
 
ok im in. Its working now. I could NOT get the silly DeinoMPI to work to use the quads. Spent over an hour trying. I think this is a good thing for eGo to do. And should implement this to a sticky, or put on main page as an active participant to the FAH community. Also puts all of our fancy computers to good use and also could be used when approaching future sponsors. GO TEAM EGO!!!!

Yeah, I think we can get there. GO TEAM eGO!!!

I was looking around eVGA's website, for graphic's card troubleshooting, and they have their own folding team. They're top 5. We have to get a TON of people folding to beat them. I have faith in eGO, I never lost it.
 
Thanks for bringing this to everyone's attention here at eGO!!! That's so awesome having all of us helping medical research with idle computers! I have my desktop and laptop PCs set-up and folding as you read! X)
 
Alright I'm in. I have access to about 50 dual and quad core servers that have a lot of idle CPU/memory time. They're basically NAS servers. Does anyone have the steps necessary to install this as a service? I tried the .exe -service but I couldn't quite figure it out. On another note, I'll get this running on my quad core workstation at work in CPU mode and GPU/CPU on my workstation at home. I've also got another few machines running it. I didn't know about the SMP version so I'll get that running when these WUs are done (been running for ~18 hours that I don't want to be wasted).

EDIT: I'm only running a 4850 on my workstation at home, but it's running an HR-03 GT with a 92mm fan on it, so it can run at 100% all day long with no issues.

Hm, has anyone gotten the SMP version to run at the same time as the GPU version? I'm having a tough time getting it to work. I don't get any errors, nothing in the log. It just doesn't run...

If you can get 50 servers to run this..well, hello to team's #1 folder after about 24 hours of folding.

I had installed the SMP client as per F@H site instructions, and had to use the drop-in binary to update it to get the install to complete correctly. If you need that, it's on the same page as the client download, at the bottom. I assume from the way you phrased your message, though, that you did that already. I installed the GPU client, but kept getting weird errors that caused the WU to reset to 0%, so I just stopped using it. It may be quicker WU's, but honestly the ones I'm pumping out now are so large that I'm getting about 2,000 PPD, so I'm not concerned about falling way behind because I can't GPU fold.

Since our team has gotten so large, anyway, I'm now more concerned with getting more and more people onboard and getting eGO way the hell up there in rank. The response thus far has been awesome, and not to undervalue all the hard working folders on the team, but if you could honestly get that kind of power onto the team, you'd probably (cycle-wise, anyway) represent about 60-75% of the team, which is already pretty large. Tripling or more the WU output right now would easily get us into the top thousand given a bit of time to get there.

And BFM - I don't know about running it as a service, other than that there are instructions to do so on F@H's website. Link: http://folding.stanford.edu/English/WinSMPGuideMPICH#ntoc5
