Folding@eGO team, round 2! (If you don't know what folding is, please read)

I will be switching back and forth between folding and running BONIC so don't get worried if you see that I have not submitted a wu in a while. :thumbup1:

Good deal SMiles!!
It also great to see so many members now that joined - thanx!!

So s3rv0 - where are we at? Are we meeting the goals? We must be on the Folding map now...

Uh yeah, we're blowing my goals out of the water. I should have said top 3,000, not top 5,000. Every goal I set gets destroyed. Really I'm just going to say it now: Top 3,000-2,500 by, say, end of the month? A while ago that seemed really unrealistic, but I'm sick of setting these goals that seem realistic but challenging, only to have 5 more people join the team and then we just race right through it.

As far as on the folding map, I'd imagine we'd have to be under a thousand to really, really be getting noticed. At that point, while we won't be amidst really popular teams, I'm sure we'll get a few "WTF who are these guys?" looks, people checking out the team and eGO's site here. Once we hit top 500 or so, I'd imagine the attention factor will go up alot.

I'm still waiting on approval from the bosses to use those 50 servers I mentioned earlier, but once those are set up I should be pumping out some good numbers. Still working on scripting it though, I figured running it as SYSTEM would work but SYSTEM by default doesn't have network access, which I assume is why they require an account to tie to it as a service. I might have some time later this week to sit down and dedicate a couple of hours to the script and actually get the thing knocked out.

Downloaded and folding. Supports a good cause while helping out eGO, I'm in.

Username is xShuriken, same as here.

I'm in.
So I just let it sit?
Seems pretty cool. I've had it all day and I'm at 45,000 of 300,000, though :( 15%

Yes, you just let it sit and it automatically does it. You can increase the priority of the program, which should make it a bit faster by letting it use more resources. To do this, right click the program's icon in the system tray and hit 'Configure => Advanced' then click 'Core Priority: Slightly higher'.

For those that don't know: If you don't think it's doing much, you can check the log file from 'Status => Log file' for a detailed report of what it's currently up to, or just click 'Display' for a basic visual (which doesn't work on my laptop e.e).

300,000? Wow, the largest I got was 15,000...umm, how did you get that?

I believe he's using the console version. I noticed that when I first loaded it. Basically, the numbers are higher, but I think it's just a 1000x multiple of what the systray version shows (i.e. 1,500,000 console is 1500 systray). Pretty sure they're the same size.

I'm no expert but I think that's how it works. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Also, someone tell me why I'm completing as many WUs yet am getting about 1/3 of the points of smiles... I'm doing normal and big WUs too.

Different WU's are worth different amount of points. Some GPU work units are 353 and others are 1888. The 1888 point work units obviously take much longer than a 353 point work unit. It all balances out.

I've been doing 10,000 point GPU WUs since I started. Oh well, if and when I get the servers up and running it won't really matter as much.

When the client says 450/10,000, that doesn't mean points. That's just how complete the WU is, 450 out of 10,000 steps. It has nothing to do with points. To find out how many points your WU is, you need a program like FahMon.

Hopefully you can get those servers folding. :)

Yeah, Like I have this CPU WU that is 500 steps and gives me 2137 points..

Im trying to do the GPU and the regular as long as I can, but im not around much, so i usually get 2500-3500 a day, I wish I could double that. This is really an awesome cause.

well since you guys seem to be smart enough to figure this out, maybe someone can tell me how I can make my computer do 50% workload instead of 25%. Seems to be alot of reading places and I cant find the right one to read. Im on the 64 bit vista and I cannot use the Deinosmp. I am running the systray version only right now. I am running the other smp program that I cannot recall it having an actualt name, but It uses 2 of the 4 processors, but still only at 25%. I have no problem allowing it to run at 70 - 80% but cannot figure out how to crank it up. Since my only other workload is DOD:s I doubt 50% working foh would even bother me. Thanks. See, I really am a dummie..........

Are you using the console version? That's the SMP version, so I assume so. It's under the advanced options. You need to enter "fah6 -configonly -smp" into the console. That'll put you in config mode. Go through the options, and then go to advanced options when it asks if you want to. I believe the option you're looking for is in there.

Indeed. I know about the points v. steps part, just pointing out that I've been doing nothing but large units on my GPU and doesn't seem like I'm getting the PPD that fahmon is telling me I should...

Yeah, it sounds like you are missing the -smp flag.

An alternative to running the smp client would be to run several uniprocessor clients until you get the CPU usage you want.
