Folding@eGO team, round 2! (If you don't know what folding is, please read)

Booya! Haven't been around the last week, school and work have been kicking my ass! Promoted at work, so working more, plus that period after about 4 weeks of school when suddenly in a week you have 7 tests and 12 papers...yeah. You guys know what I'm talking about. Had some issues with the FAH client that have now been troubleshooted...troubleshot..troubleshotten...solved. Back to folding!

We're on the verge of top 1000 teams, which if you can crunch numbers, means we're on the verge of being in about the top .625% of all teams. if we reach top 800 we'd be in about the top half percentile of all teams. Quite an accomplishment for a relatively small group of folks putting their minds and idle cycles towards something.

Here's an idea and a moral booster.

Another forum I am on, one that is geared towards computer hardware and Overclocking, participates in a yearly contest against other like-forums. The contest is the first to "what ever number" within "whatever amount of time", e.g. 1,000,000 points in a week.

Current totals don't apply, and all teams start with zero (they don't lose their count, just for the contest the total at the end is subtracted from whatever they had to begin with and that's their end total for the contest).

The winner gets a trophy, in the form of a graphic representing the theme of event. Each participant gets a post bit stating that they participated in the event.

If promotes a positive goal with everyone working towards the greater good. Even the last place team still contributed to a great cause.

Maybe it's something eGO would be interested in. What do you guys and gals think?

wooh just realized we are in 900s coolio (yeah i know im late on realizing this)
 
LoneArchon was the cause for about 15 of those CPU drops, the pure number of machines he was running were causing heat issues at his place. I also had a few servers go offline, going to get those started back up now...
 
Nice to see eGO doing this. I have been doing this for awhile now. Just my small attempt to help humanity out.

939 as of right now. It's amazing I was one of the first 10 people to start this! Keep going ego. Go for number 1!!!
 
Yeah, 70 people have contributed to this team, with as many as 40 of them contributing regularly/presently. Our meteoric rise to the top 1% (top .5% is only about 105 ranks away at present standings) is one part nerdy high end computers, one part dedication, and two parts teamwork. I'm thinking about submitting F@H to my company as a way to use idle cycles. We have hundreds of small stores, each with at least 2 computers, and a main office, complete with IT and support center departments, with hundreds more. If they're left on most of the time (some of those departments like support are open 24 hours a day anyway), it'd be huge.

If we could get them to contribute to this team...heh, well, that might be a little ambitious, since I'm only working in retail management at the moment, I wouldn't be the one setting it up, and wouldn't be able to ensure our team was credited. But still, worth a shot! Not likely I'm thinking though, since part of the mission statement of the company is not to seek public recognition for charity work, since we have an in-house charity operation that distributes a couple million to individuals and communities who are victims of natural and other disasters, both inside and outside of the company, every year.

At any rate, keep it up folks. If you have some non-eGO nerdy friends (since most eGO'ers have probably heard about this by now), try to get them onboard! But remember, just no public adverts on the forums, one of few the conditions the council set down for our team.

Sadly I have to say that I'm pretty much off from folding. :( I dont have the time, resources or money to do anything at the moment. Well, time I might have, but I lack greatly in the other departments. xP

I did give it a whirl and hopefully made small difference. The rest of you try to keep up the good work. =D
