Folding@eGO team, round 2! (If you don't know what folding is, please read)

too much text too lazy to read...
xD

in a nutshell, google fold@home, download the client, and use the team number on the first page. it will use your computer's idle power to do good stuff when you're not using it.

it's for science :-D

I left my comp on during the weekend while i visited home hoping to contribute a whole 48 hours of pure folding, and come back to find my router froze; don't even know when lol ah well, c'est la vie!

well at least you only have to be online to get an receive work loads, it wasn't a complete waste :D. I leave mine on 24/7, but im @ uni so power bill isn't a concern.

Yeah, I woke up this morning to find my router crashed and I had 3 work units just waiting to be returned.:(

Oh well, could have been worse.

Ok, whats up with these multicore applications? I tried the SMP one to full utilize my i7, but it didn't work. Anyone have a link to a multicore one?

FreakingHell, you are the man! I had 23890 in the last 3 months. Now its estimating 6557 points per day :D

But seriously, my CPU temps used to run at 42 while folding, since it only ever got up to 14% load.. now its at 63 with 99.8% load... might need to upgrade from stock cooler soon.

Below 70C is more than perfectly safe for 24/7 use. But yeah, a high end cooler is a good investment.

*kicks it into gear so you don't catch me!*

for i7 cooling, i use this

it's on the cheaper side compared to some of the other ones out there, and CPU stays at around 53-54 degs on full load from folding. it could probably be better with a higher quality thermal paste too, i just used what came with the cooler :-P if you do consider it, keep in mind the dimensions. it's BIG.

happy folding!

Personally, I am with Hard OCP team. I run my server 24/7 and my desktop and laptop (gpu and cpu for both) when not in use. Does not matter what team you are on. What really matters is that we are at a great attempt of saving lives :D

man, the vmware player really doesn't like me. now when it does the Sending discover, it doesn't find a network connection and stops working. Going to forums after work to check it out >=(
