Folding@eGO team, round 2! (If you don't know what folding is, please read)

When it cools off around Cleveland in a month or two, you shall have the work of my 12 cores and my 4 gpus.

I don't have the GPU client running yet, like I mentioned I'm house sitting now, so I'll be running that in a couple weeks when I get back home. That means I'll have 6 processors running folding in just ONE machine. Quad core CPU plus dual core video card. :)

And Mr Orange - You can set the client to only request a maximum of X% of your cycles. Basically, cap it at like 25 or 50% instead of the default 100 and you won't have to worry about overheating.

Update on leaderboards, more and more folks are showing up now that they've submitted a completed work unit:

Rank
(within team)..Donor..........Score........WU
1.....................s3rv0.........3680........2
2.................WaterSnake....604..........1
3.............LiquidToeNail.....460..........1
4.......................Jv...........336..........1
5................ScrappyDoo....336..........1
6.....................Kendle........0.............1
7....................Cupcake......0.............1
8.......................spidEY......0.............1

And thanks for mentioning the SMP client. It's what I run at home, and though I mentioned that there was a client for multicore machines, I wasn't too specific about it. It's what's enabling me to tackle the largest sized work units (most points) in 20-ish hours, and get so much more points per WU than the other folks are. Don't worry, I welcome people to try take the #1 spot away from me!

I tried both the GPU and SMP ones, but I couldn't get either one to work. =/ Well, the GPU doesn't work on my laptop at all, since it as doesn't have the proper drives, but weirdly enough the SMP one didn't want to run either. I have a dual-core processor, so it should work.

Cool, I was folding all the time for no group . I have 324 WU's done. one of this in th eGO group :)

Oh, and I just downloaded this new client for multicore since I have a Core i7 :"Drop-in binary for current Windows SMP console client (6.24)"

Is there anyway to automate it so it starts when I start my comp ?

Edit: that works, now is there a way to minimize the console to my taskbar in a little icon next to my clock ?

For the SMP client you need to download the drop in update for it to work. You can find it on the download page just below where you downloaded the SMP client.

Wow guys, this is excellent. eGO's team is really coming along here. Fighting the good fight.

@ LiquidToenail - Ruh roh, looks like you just submitted a bunch of WU's overnight. Keep it up and you'll have me overtaken in a few days, tops. Maybe I gotta get home and start that GPU client on my radeon 4870 dual core video card to try to maintain the lead! XD

LOL!! Just curious, how often does the team pages update?
I have 2 systems that have almost completed there tasks, 1 that will be done in a couple of hours and 2 that are dog slow and will be at least another day.
Thinking of bring 2 more pc's online. Yes - 7 total! Can't wait to see my power bill next month!! :scared: Gotta run a big air conditioner in the place to keep it from burning down!!

Lol yeah. That's really the only drawback in helping with this all. Your electricity bill. xD If you can afford it, sure, keep it up, but otherwise it's not really that good to use all of your resources 24/7. D=

^^ Good point Jawneh. TO counter that problem and the heat problem I limit my CPU usage to 60% and ram to 2GB.

My electric bill only want up about $23 a month when I started folding. I run the SMP client and the nvidia client 24/7 when I'm not gaming.

I won't be commiting all these systems to a 24/7 duty cycle....but, I do have the PC's available for the time being. Oddly enough, my 2 servers are really slow at this. I know running them in CPU mode does take longer - they don't have good GPU's. I am using 3 fairly good systems with good GPU's (Nvidia 8000 series cards), but wow, they throw alot of heat! :crying:

Note: After re-reading my previous post - please understand, I'm not trying to 'race' anyone or be in first, that is not the point of all this, I just happen to have a lot of basically un-used systems available for the job at hand. We're a team - let's get it done :)

^ The goal is to the the eGO team to #1. But since there is a raking within the team, there MUST be a #1 ranked folder for each team. However, if we want to have a little friendly race to be the top folder for eGO, that only means more people will be throwing more resources to folding for the team. Thus making the eGO team #1.
