Folding@eGO team, round 2! (If you don't know what folding is, please read)

Wow, you guys are beating me badly. I hope my computer is still on...I hope it didn't crash.

The only way to get eGO to #1 would be for somebody to build a folding farm with 1000+ GTX 295's. We might get to #1 then. Anybody got $600,000+ to spend?

Well yeah... You and your 36 units. D= And when S3rv0 gets all his gear running. Some of us can't do anything really. =[

19 people ranked in Team eGO. All but one of them has at least some kind of a score already. =o

Everyone's system helps out - no matter if it's just 1. As for my numbers, I cannot run all these systems here 24/7 - it gets hot in here and I'm not made of money. But I am able to commit several systems to help - I just do what I can...it's no fun doing it alone.

At first I saw your post and saw paragraphs of text so I didn't bother reading.
But today I read it and joined the cause.
Nice post servo!

I know, I know. :P Still, 36 units is a lot, even if they only run for a short while. My hardware is most likely way inferior than yours. xD I still do my share and am happy about it. =o It just happens to be that you and s3rv0, maybe WaterSnake too are the ones that are guiding the eGO boat up and up.

As for eGO becoming #1 - Yeah, maybe it's not very likely considering there are teams in there with hundreds of thousands of dollars more hardware than we have, and that have literally years more time put in than us...but that doesn't mean we can't do well. We're already in the top 10% and we haven't even been doing this for a week. I, for one, am very excited to see how far we can get, considering we've done so well so quickly.

how do you know if it is working

If it's the normal one, then it can take 15 mins up to an hour before something new appears on the screen. It depends on your computers hardware as well as how large of a protein you're working with. So just be patient.

Well I'm happy to report that eGO team has climbed anothe percentile and is now in the 8th percentile for teams. That pust us at rank 13,966 out of over 160,000 teams.

Installed the GPU client on my home PC yesterday, too. Couldn't hang around to see how fast it was going, just ran it and took off for work, now I'm back at our home-away-from-home, house-sitting. Hopefully it can up my WU load, but considering the WU's for that client seem to be much smaller, I don't think it will increase my points by as much. The quad core machine cranking out 1800 point WU's once every 20 hours will still be the huge bulk of my points, otherwise the teeny WU's are like 300-ish points and since they're running on slower computers (or in one case, a video card), they actually take longer to get done.

I remember in high school I was friends with a few wannabe hackers. They got a root kit and IP scanner, scanned brackets of IP ranges for unprotected machines, hacked the ones with no passwords, and just installed folding and had it contribute to our team. Good times, that high school delinquincy. Good times.

My 8800GT gets ~4500 PPD(points per day), whereas my Q6600 gets ~1700 PPD.

What I get is not a lot. There are a bunch of people on my team that get ~50,000+ PPD, and even a few with ~80,000+.

I plan on buying an EVGA 780i SLi FTW board so that I can run 3x285's and bring my total up to about ~25,000+ PPD.

Check out 'AtlasFolder,' a guy that has a folding farm with 31 9800GX2's(62 GPUs), and 23 GTX 295's(46 GPUs). He gets 444,000+ PPD.

That's insane, people are really serious about this. I don't think I can hope to beat them.
