Well, this has been going on for a while now. Basicaly when i install (and reinstall time after time) steam works as intended, but after i turn off then reboot at a later time, it no longer opens. It either does nothing or says "Cant run more then one copy of steam." or something like that. It also says this if i try to reinstall after unistalling without a reboot inbetween. So either it just doesnt work, or it is, but i cant get access to it? Its getting annoying. Please help.

next time you that error bring up the task manager and look for steam in the processes tab.

ok heres how i fixed that problem

go to view / settings / interface and make sure "Run Steam When Windows Starts" is NOT checked

Happened to me to. Turn off "run at startup".

It will still do that sometimes, though.

If steam is running, but the icon doesn't show up, even after you close the process and re-open the program. The likely cause is that you are running Steam in compatibility mode. I had this error for awhile and even after reinstalling steam, disabling compatibility mode was the only thing that fixed it (I don't even know how it got turned on). If that's not your problem, the previous fixes listed should do the trick.
