Vista User Name

Ok so I've already changed my user name under control panel and it shows up different, but if I right click on a file it still says "C:\Users\Oldname\pictures\blahblah. How do i get that original name I put when I started windows the first time to change? I really don't want to reformat, but I also really don't want my real name under the users. I Googled it, but none of the fixes seemed to adress this problem.

If I understand the situation correctly, couldn't you just copy over the files to your new user account and delete the old?

My Computer > Right Click and go to manage > Local Users and Groups > Right click and rename

Thanks Shadow, it seemed like that might work, but there was no local users and groups options in the manager. If there is any confusion about what I want to change I'm sorry. I think it's the name I put in when I installed Windows. I changed the user name in the control panal already. So I thought if I looked at the properties for a picture or something it would be like C:\Users\Hatter\pictures instead of C:\Users\myname\pictures. I'd really like to avoid making a new user profile and copying the 50+ gigs of files I have.

sounds like you have the home version of vista. best way to do that is reboot, log on as the administrator, (not your account). rename the folder under c:\users\ to c:\users\oldname.old. reboot, login ads yourself, and it will create a new folder as needed. all your old files and everything will still be there under c:\users\oldname.old, just copy them to c:\users\newname.
