sooo.... im trying to replace the theme and looks of my Windows Vista Ultimate... the only problem is that im trying to change my browserui.dll file that is located in

Windows/System32

apparently the directions on installing a new browserui.dll is that 2

"take ownership of the system files in system32 folder
and replace those with restorator"

and i have NO idea what that means...

im steaming from frustration ><

so are you trying to copy/paste a dll to replace the default? or are you using a program thatll mod the dll?

if you are replacing it, just copy/paste the file (after making a backup of the original) if the dll is in use, give it a try in safe mode, that might let ya do it

if its a program doing it, they prob mean removing the 'read only' property of the file. To do that, right click the file, pit properties & uncheck the box for 'read only'

When you use Windows Vista, by default your profile is not a full administrator account, for security reasons. What this means is that you cannot access or modify important system files stored on your computer when logged in as a normal user. Im not sure, but i believe all of the System 32 folder is locked this way.

To get around this, you simply need to log in as the computer's administrator. There are instructions if you dont know how to do this here:
http://www.vistax64.com/vista-account-administration/10734-administrator-log.html#post45551

Go to Start/run and type controluserpasswords2 . Click on the Advanced tab. Under Advanced User management click the Advanced button. Click on users RIGHT click the Administrator account and select properties. Uncheck ACCOUNT IS DISABLED
BTW i think the program Stinky Wizzleteats is talking about is Stardock's WindowBlinds. It lets you modify Windows's appearance.
