Darkest Of Days

I have to say, I was very eagerly awaiting this game as the information I saw looked awesome.

I will give it this, the concept is very cool, I mean who doesnt wanna fight through the civil war or world war 1?

If this is a small company that made this, then its rather impressive, but being used to the huge budget triple A titles from Valve and the like, this just didnt quite feel like it could hold its own.

The controls felt odd, mouse movement was not always smooth and sometimes seemed a bit jerky. Walking around and running/sprinting didnt quite feel right either.

If we are looking at it this way, some of the animations werent all that great, but for the most part were fine. Voice acting and the like was alright, nothing amazing, but not bad. The weapons were decent and were overall fun to use (although hampered a bit by aiming because of the odd feel of mouse movement) and the reload system was a little odd (different than I am used to)

The graphics as a whole were pretty good, again not amazing, but definitely not bad by any stretch of the imagination.

This is what I think really got to me, immersion. It just didnt quite feel completely immersive. In a game like this, I would really want to feel like I am actually there and actually taking part. It just didnt give me that feeling, whether it was the graphics/animations not being all that amazing, or the sounds not quite being all that amazing or something else, it was just a little hard to feel like I was really there fighting in those environments.

So I think when it came down to it, it just didnt quite feel right, the fact that it seemed a little forced and unnatural to be in those locations combined with controls that did not feel right, I just found myself a little let down by a premise that could have been amazing, but was just executed in what felt like a standard potentially somewhat mundane way.

Again, I still really like the concept, but if the demo was anything for me to base what the final game will be like, I just dont see myself buying this one.

I'm impressed with how well the graphics engine did when there was multiple amounts of NPCs on screen, the engine did not lag horribly or crash. It may have been with the graphics balancing (some are good, some are poor) but its a nice looking game.

Good luck with the game!

Oh and I know that the demo was just the first part of the game, that's why it was easy...

All Hail Flea :)

Post any updates you get as I'm sure with this game you'll know before we do :)

I've got the game installed, there isn't really much I don't know - I just don't know if I can say very much about it, I haven't really asked so I figure it safe to just keep my lips sealed right now. You know, company policy, etc, etc.

When we get real close to release, I'll give a more detailed update/personal review so people know what to expect. I'll get some nice screenshots, as well. I haven't completed the ENTIRE game, but I'm working on it here and there. :P

Looks very intresting, I just dont like how ur fighting in the cival war with modern weapons. :/

I say again. You use the weapons from the time period you are sent to. The occassions when you use a weapon not for your time period do not make up a majority of the game, and there is always reason behind it.
