I have an Acer. They're excellent, for non-expensive.
ViewSonics are the best you can buy though.

Cheap, and Acer makes GREAT monitors. Mine has lasted me almost 3 years and not a single dead pixel!

I have two monitors, both are great.

Secondary is an Acer X203W (it's kinda old, Newegg doesn't carry it anymore)
the Samsung is a full 1080p HDTV and a PC monitor - total 133tn335

There are some 23" asus monitors on newegg for around $180. An amazing value
You should read this explanation of different lcd panels before you buy anything.
The quality of the image on a lcd monitor has more to do with the type of panel it has than what brand it is. Dell and Apple make arguably the best monitors when it comes to quality of image and color representation.
If you are just surfing the web and playing video games, I recommend a TN panel that costs MUCH less.

If you want to spend $100, just watch newegg. They go every other week with a decent 19" on sale for $100. Sometimes it's the acer, sometimes it's the hanns g.

theres a couple things sprcial about this monitor, first is the 2ms response time, thats very fast most monitors come over 5ms which is still very good, secon this is a 1080p monitor(1920x1080) its very rare that u find a 21.5 inch with this resolution

disagree with who? just because yours is good others aren't? your 7 year old strong monitor means the new ones are good too? where have you ever read that picture quality fades in a lcd over time? failed logic all over the place.
samsung makes some good screens, no doubt. but those are no reasons to buy one.

Wow Ryken, you are now my new friend. You are the first person on this forums that have actually mentioned different panel types.
But on to the main topic, LCD Screens! If you want to save money you may have to make a tough decision. You can get a really nice 20'' monitor like a Dell 2007wfp or a NEC 20WMGX2 like mine which are IPS monitors and give you a really nice, accurate, vivid picture or a 24'' monitor which is large but may not have as accurate or as nice of a picture.
What I noticed though is while people may notice the differences between two monitors side by side, in general unless they do graphics works they generally have no idea that their colours are off (aka, it doesn't matter).
Basically if you aren't doing anything that needs colour accuracy and you aren't picky like me get a big monitor that's within your budget. I would pick a name brand like Samsung or Viewsonic but for the most part anything would work nicely on the market. Make sure it has the connections you want (DVI vs VGA, composite connections, etc) and if you need it the ability to swivel or to rotate the screen 90 degrees).
BTW if you get a big screen with a larger resolution your graphics card needs to be powerful enough to drive it otherwise your gaming may look worse. I wouldn't worry too much about LCD speed, I've used 12ms screens and it hasn't been a problem with me gaming. Hope that helps, sorry about the long read!

Acer and Asus make decent low-priced monitors. I'm currently using an Asus and am very happy with it. You can usually find their 20-22" monitors for around $100-150 and sometimes can even grab a 24" in that range.
If you're looking for some serious picture quality, Samsung makes some of the top quality monitors, but you'll be paying a lot more for that.

I have a Acer 22'' it is very good quality and it's cheap! I would recommend it to anyone.

Like many have said it really depends what you want it for. I personally went with the best for graphics/video, both which I do in my daily work. My monitor might have a slower response time, but it is not very noticeable in gaming. If you want something specific for gaming go for any of those PVA or TN panel monitors like the Acer's or Asus. If you instead need something that is more towards what I have mentioned, the NEC is the only way to fly.
