(copied Prototypes Review)
My review of fallout 3. And this is not accurate to the average gamer. So don't take my reviews word on your decision to buy the game. read prototypes. HERE
When i read about what Bethesda said about the game before it was released i got scared and this is a direct quote.
When i first was thinking about buying the game i was a little edgy because i played Fallout 1, 2, and Tactics and thought they were making a huge mistake for letting Bethesda use their Oblivion's Engine and revamping what was already a flawless game. The original fallout's had amazing story lines and open ended "choose your own path/character" as does F3. but Fallout 3 lacked on many aspects that the originals did not.
Graphics 6/10
The graphics are OK. Bethesdas Engine is always good. The looks were impressive, but they weren't exciting. They went to far on "Post-Apocalyptic" and looking at rubble, rocks, and dead trees got old very fast. After about 2 hours into the game, i was dieing to get a quest that took me into a dungeon or warehouse so i could stop looking at the boring environment almost the entire game has. And the guns? they were way to boxy and unrealistic. and the textures on them where stretched.

Story 5/10
The story was good, but not the best from the franchise. predictable, yes from someone like me who's played the others. And i felt like the side quests didn't do anything for the story at all, the only thing that changed the story was the Karma system. I'm not going to tell you why i thought this for that would be a spoiler. They say there are over 300 endings to the game. Thats retarded, there's only 2 endings. and again i cant tell you why thats a "FACT" or it will be a spoiler.
Gameplay 7/10
The gameplay was unique, that's for sure. I tried to utilize the V.A.T.S system as much as i could because I loved the turn based system that Fallout was known for. Fallout to me was amazing because you could choose the outcome of any battle primarily on your choice of action during a battle. This is why they created the V.A.T.S. system. Which i hope is used in future games. but sometimes the vats system was just unnecessary, which pissed me off because it lead me to playing it like every other FPS. I'm fine with that because i am a FPS Player. But conserving ammo and taking strategic shots are what the games supposed to be about. And if you run through the game never using the V.A.T.S. system then theres no reason to boost your Action Points is there? and Fallout is known for its Action Points. People thought about Action points before Health Points and Armor Classes. When you have played all the "Elder Scrolls" as well, it defiantly ruined the entire game for me because Fallout 3 felt too similar. The control was not mastered for an FPS. Bethesda hasn't realized that in an FPS, the forward and back acceleration speed is not the same speed as movement left and right. "go ahead test that out on ANY OTHER FPS GAME." Its like how the makers of "Gears of War" did Unreal Tournament 3, and completely ruined that franchise.
AI 3/10
The AI in this game was god awful. First of all, when any enemy was low on health they ran away and made it way to easy to kill them. Any enemy when exploring woul do nothing but just run straight toward you and start shooting. The only AI i saw impressive were the ones during the cut scenes.

MUSIC 1/10
The only music that fit the theme was during a battle. and hopefully you hit a random good one during a dungeon quest. But when i was exploring, the music *and i blame Bethesda* was to identical to Oblivion. Most of the exploring music had harps, and flutes. HARPS AND FLUTES? IN A POST APOCALYPTIC GAME?! I'm sorry but Fallout is supposed to be a Mature Rated game. They tried, buy putting in hanging bodies and using the F word a couple of times. But in the other games, the world was a lot more violent, and a lot more gore and evil. So the music needs to fit the scene.
Overall: 5/10 *and thats being nice because i love fallout.*
Overall my opinion was that it was a failure and after playing the game all the way threw, side quests and all, then playing it again to take a different route. I uninstalled, and installed Fallout 2.
The only reason why Bethesda took over the franchise is because Bethesda "other than Obsidian Who Should have done it" are good with open ended games that are properly funded. And Bethesda took it because they have fallout fans in their Staff.
Fallout 3 didnt even have most of the enemies and tribes from the others. i dont even think Fallout3 HAD tribes. which were a big influence. There were a lot of things that went introduced which should have. Crippling an enemy showed no effect on their abilities to fight. so crippiling a leg is pointless. whereas in the others, crippling a leg is pretty much all you want to do because you dont want to kill the person. and as for shooting someone in the face and blinding them? again im sure F3 didnt even have that, and crippiling the arms showed no effect on their ability to shoot worse. so why the hell would you aim for the arms? They actually created a "MOD" for the game that integrated this feature. because Bethesda are morons. "Action Points" almost mean nothing in Fallout 3 because once you run out, you can just go ahead and shoot freely like any other game. Fallout was a game where you used up all your action points available and then it was the next persons turn. Equiping another gun would use action points, changing the type of fire would be an action point, movin was an action point, and reloading and or fleeing would be one too. Like Final Fantasy almost, but in its own unique way. That's like turning the New Final Fantasy into an FPS. It just wouldn't be final fantasy anymore. Might as well call it Final Fantasy Carnage. Might as well call fallout 3, "FALLOUT VENGEANCE." I think the game was RUSHED and did not reach my expectations as a fallout game.

..i hated itThis is going to be a tough one, die-hard fallout fans are either going to love it, or hate it.
