The road trips are one of the benefits of becoming a full member. Once you've proven yourself to be a good representation then not only will you get your G, but all the cool benefits that come with it (and I'm not talking about admin).
On road trips we are extending ourselves outside of our community. We absolutely can not have somebody with our tag on make us look poor on another server. One way to help weed out problems is by having only full members attend.
