Earlier tonight I could not open steam because my computer said something about it being misplaced or corrupted or something of that sort. Steam then began updating itself and all these random files and crap were being put on my desktop(appearing to have to do with steam.) I ended up having to clear my computer of ANYTHING and EVERYTHING steam related. All my game files and everything(like 10,000GB of steam stuff was gone when I finished) I un-installed it as well. However now I re-installed it and have begun to re-install my games. Everything seems to be working fine. Anyone know what might have happened? I have no clue. -_-

if you really had that much I'd say that was your problem haha. But seriously, consider a thorough virus scan just in case those files weren't related to Steam, and check out the knowledge base/steam support system too.

Wowzers, lol I hope that doesn't happen to me :P And lets hope it doesn't happen to you again.

if you ever have to wipe steam out again first backup your steamapps folder which is inside the main steam folder.

the steamapps is where your games are stored and where your settings for each game are.

and crap i thought i had a lot of stuff when i had to get a 2nd terabyte of storage

O.o That's a LOT of stuff. Infact, it's over 9000! j/k
Never heard of anything like this before. Run a virus check to be on the safe side of things. Sounds really weird if you had to uninstall everything steam related...
