Well last year i bought 2 9800gx2's they just run to damn hot, and i have to options

either
buy 2 water blocks for them and hook into my water cooling system (will run about 150 a piece)
or
Upgrade maybe like 2 4890's

4890's, they run well in crossfire, also they don't run nearly as hot

Yeah, I'd go with the 4890's, they don't make your room feel like a scorching desert. :)

9800 GX2 is 2 9800 GT? So that means if you have 2, that's as powerful as 4 9800 GT! OMG!
You don't need 4 9800 GT?!
Upgrade if you feel like it.

2 4890's woul outpreforme a single gtx295 and a they coast less, but again if u take the gtx 295 its will save u an extra slot plus a future quad but really my choice would be for ATI.

nvm i take back my post after reading a review on the new super ml cap ASUS 4890.

If ur not going to get an aftermarket cooler or dont want to hassly yourself, get the new ASUS 4890 since they do run at cooler temps but the review site was only capable of easily getting 950/1100 but for some reason they couldnt get past that. The temps overclocked were amazing tho, around 47 C.

If your going to overclock and replace with aftermarket coolers, they say the referance boards with an aftermarket cooler have a higher overclocked potential over 1000mhz core and so on.

If your made out of cash go for the HD 4890's, I would personally just crank up the fan speed and add some fans pointing at the GPU's. Which would hold me off until a bigger upgrade came out.

Also, if your motherboard isn't a X58 based motherboard your probably not going to be able to run 2 HD 4890's. Most CrossFire or SLI boards only support one or the other.

all the non-sli boards that arnt X58 support crossfire. SLI is just &@y like that and put a lock on their mobos to only allow SLI and not crossfire, crossfire works with anything that has 2 PCI-e slots and isnt SLI certified. The new X58 boards tho, some of them do both CF and SLI which is amazing and great.

I know this sounds stupid but I would let them be till they burn out and then upgrade. If they are giving you what you want then why not keep em as long as possible? :)
