old demos

So i finally get connected to my router, so first thing i decided to do is get working on my frag video. well i open up tf2, pull up console and type in demoui, pick my first demo and click load. wait a couple seconds like normal and then get this message

all of these .dem files were made before the last update, so does that mean that i can no longer use them?

Unfortunately, yes. Demos cannot be viewed after an update. I'm not sure if there is a program that can convert them to a standard video format, but you should try looking for one.

that's actually what i was doing is converting them to wav format. The only other way is to use fraps but i can't even do that because i need to actually watch the video's.

THere in there original .dem format

as i understand it there are really only 2 option. Basically using startmovie to convert them to a .wav file but i can't do that cause i cant load the demo's.

Or i can watch the video and record the watching with fraps but i can't do that because... well i think you get the point.

try changing the file name "?????.dem to something else like "?????.avi" to see if it will play then

ok, ill give that a try later, ive been pretty busy lately, but once i can sit down for a bit ill try it.
