Force jumping

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AszyNq0Jjb0"]Force jumping - a new TF2 technique[/ame]

Force jumping is a new technique that was apparently "introduced" by Valve when they changed the Force-a-Nature mechanics. Since I do not use the Force-a-Nature I did not know of this until now.

If you run forwards as a Scout with the Force-a-Nature, aim at about a 45 degree angle up from the ground (Do not look straight at the ground, it has to be at a pretty much perfect 45 degree angle), crouch and immedately jump and fire, the momentum for the gun and the jump will add up and propel you almost as high as a Soldier's rocket jump. You can then use your double jump to take yourself in any direction.

You can just double jump then shoot below you with the Force-a-Nature and get the same height but with Force jumping you can get the same height of a normal triple jump without using your second jump which you can then use. It's basically a quadruple jump!

I do hope Valve does not "fix" this since it gives the Scout some more flexibility. If this does become a part of the Force-a-Nature I might aswell experiment with it for a while and use it now and then.

Interesting, I'm assuming most of these jumps can't be done with the normal "triple jump". If so, I can see comp scouts using the FaN more often.

Scouts and all their jumpiness. Bah.

Be prepared to see failing scouts. They will practice quad jumping, but we all know that the word practice is used as an excuse for failing.

This seems more like an exploit and probably should not be used on the servers, but unless another Admin says otherwise I guess it's okay... even though FaN seems to be the most OP weapon in TF2...

If this is an exploit to you then you should not tolerate rocket jumping or sticky jumping either, it's the same principal. You gain more height via good timing, precise angles and crouching just like Rocket jumping. This is not different.

This is more like what I was expecting when I read the title...

I'll probably test this out at some point, but I use the scatter-gun 90% of the time so I guess it's nothing major to me. Looks pretty cool though.

My guess is that the FAN runs on a tweaked splash damage system now, and this is why you can't move people who are far away from you, and also why you can do this. If you move forward and fire correctly, the momentum from your running is transferred into vertical momentum by hitting the edge of the sphere of influence. This is also why you can shoot up and go down now. It used to just be a jump modifier.

Eh, seems like a legit tactic to me, I actually stopped using FaN since patch.
I think this makes up for all the massive nerfs the scout recently got.
Most annoying music ever...
It's a (very terrible) remix of a song based on touhou project I think.

Yeah I agree it's not like it's easy to do, very similiar to the Soldier and the Demoman jumps. I don't think Valve will fix this since it's a result of the FaN's new damage system, so either they revert it to the old system or keep it the way it is, or if they can fix it with the existing system then yeah. Maybe this was intentional by Valve?
