tf2-lag problem

Played tf2 fine yesterday, then I took a nap. I tried playing later the same day and when I join a server I am stuck in spectator. My ping is fine, and my dl/ul speed is normal. If I alt-tab out and go back in it will join a team, and if I pick a class and alt tab out it will let me join and play. When I try playing I lag constantly and keep skipping around.

This is internet lag only. Nothing is wrong with my graphics card. The problem started literally out of the blue.

Could be multiple reasons.

1. Does this happen on all servers you join?

2. Something is wrong with your hardware, try updating your drivers.

Try running net_graph 1 and seeing your stats for loss or choke if you know it's not anything with your PC.

It could be your rate settings or it could be that your ISP was experiencing some troubles.

I've been getting more lag since the last patch too. It might have something to do with the change in network code. I've searched the internet and it's not just a few people with the problem. I'd say bear with it until the patch that fixes the update.

Well I connected to another internet connection in the apartment complex *cough* no password *cough* and the problem was gone. I waited for a few hours and it works again.
