my new (budget) build, tell me what you think

ok so im gonna build this computer on a budget tell me if its missing something or anything. and yes, im getting the cables (sata II) too, so dont worry

Case: RaidMax Apex
PSU: 500W Cooler Master eXtreme power
CPU: AMD Athlon II x2 240 2.8GHz
GPU: nVidia GeForce 9600 GT
Memory: OCZ Gold 4GB (2x2GB) @ 800MHz
MoBo: ECS Black Series 780G AM2/AM2+
HDD: 250GB WD

It doesn't look like anything is missing from that. Well keyboard/mouse/monitor/listening device but I figure you're going to reuse them from somewhere else.

Also, you generally don't need to buy SATA cables as they come with the motherboard. The only 2 exceptions to this is buying Open Box items (possibly) or having more hard drives than what your motherboard manufacturer provides the cables for. So if you don't need to buy them then that'll save you like $0.05.

2 questions crossed my mind though.

1) What's the purpose of the computer?

2) What's your total budget (if you don't mind sharing)? The reason I ask is that you can probably step up the parts a bit more depending on the budget.

purpose is gaming and some editing, and do mother boards come with cables? because the hard drive is OEM.
total budget is around $450

Motherboards(retail) 99% of the time ill come with Sata cables.
Also for gaming I suggest you spend $50 more for a better video card such as a Radeon 4850 which is a amazing value. Just my 2 cents

the 9600GT is a fine card for your build.

I had one and at 1920x1200 with a C2D e8400 @ 3.0Ghz I ran every Source game at 90+FPS average, FarCry 2 almost fully maxed on D10, Fallout3 Almost maxed settings.

Everything there is fine. I mean theres brands that could be changed but thats all personal such as for ram and psu or mobo. But again it looks like a great build for 450.

I run a 9600 GT with an AMD 6400+ and it gets 35-70 fps in TF2 with a full server at 1920x1200

Im not totally familiar with Physx but dont you need a whole separate card dedicated for it??
Like your running a GTX 285 in SLI then you have a 9800gtx or another GTX 285 just as a physx card?? dont take my word on it though

i just looked it up on nVidia's website, and the newer cards have it built in

also you won't need a quad core...they are pretty pointless unless you do some major jazz which probably 90% of people with quad cores do not do

i do some video and picture editing, if thats what you mean, and i have a quad right now, but if fails... Phenom 9150e 1.8GHz....sad face...

That dual core looks good. Nice phenom, whats it one of the first to be released?

you know some of the duo cores for AMD are basically quad cores with 2 cores locked up and not in use. I think there is a phenom II X2 BE which goes for like 100 bucks and you can unlock the the remaining two cores to make it a quad core.
