Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Error

So, after resubscribing to the Gametap service, I've been trying to get Fable: The Lost Chapters to run.

Every time I start it up, the splash screen blips (and it opts to go into safe mode because it crashed before. I've tried it with safe mode and without) and it opens a black screen. Sits there for a second before the error pops up.

I've gotten this error a few times in the past but the same techniques haven't fixed it this time.

I updated DirectX and got the End-User Runtime Files, rebooted, and still got the error. (DirectX version is 9.0c, 4.09.0000.0904)

I tried searching Google since this is a common error but I haven't found anything yet.

Video Card drivers should be up-to-date.

Shouldn't be a hardware problem because my brother and I are running the same PCs, just his has ~200MB more RAM, and he runs the game fine.

Shouldn't be a GameTap problem either, but it's possible.

Try Deleting "Fable.exe" that was inside "Fable - The Lost Chapters", but dont remove it from your system completely until you see if it fixed it or made it worse. I did that once but for HL2 and I removed HL2.exe and it worked after getting that same error.

That's one of the problems; Gametap doesn't install games (in fact, it doesn't install them at all) like a normal program.

It hides the data in Documents and Settings -> All Users -> Application Data (hidden folder) -> Gametap. Even going to there, it's just a series of .dat files.

Same reason behind not being able to patch; Gametap attatches the patches with the game when you download it so you can't manually update or roll it back.

Gametap has these issues - Quite frankly I stopped using it because I got this same exact error with NO FIX on my end.
Therefore I am unsure - Gametap just doesn't do it right I guess. :/
