im looking for a real good strategy game. I am a fan of pass total war games. im looking into Empire total war, but its still $49 . is the game worth it.

wait for a sale, I played it heavily for a week then stopped playing it.

I love the TW series, but Empire was just lacking something for me personally.

I do like how much more in depth the campaigns are though.

DARTH VADER makes the AI mods that all the other modders use in theirs, he's that awesome lol. His mods for RTW and M2TW are top-notch.

I tried the Demo, it is awesome but I find that you sometimes don't get enough units. I know it's a challenge but theres still too little units

ya but this new mod that guy posted up above gives more units. so that should improve things. but still i think im going to wait a lil longer for it to go down in price, i dont want to pay $50 dollars,

if you plan on playing mostly multiplayer, hold off til the price cut for sure. The netcode and multiplayer experience was just horrible for me... crashes, lost connections, unfinished battles, and lag.

O man . ya from my experience from total war multiplayer games is everyone quits before its over due to hang ups and people just d/c

If you're new to the Total War series, I recommend you buy the game now and get to know how the game works, some strategies, and get a good feel for the game. By the time you know your way around you can probably go into multiplayer (once they fix the lag and crashes). The campaign is pretty fun too, but make sure you're in for a lot of hours played on that mode, especially to get to the late game units.

Game is still unplayable for me. I love the Total War series, own Rome: Total War and Medieval II: Total War, I invested about 70 hrs into a ETW campaign only for it to continuously crash after a few moves. Oftentimes this crashing is totally random and makes me save manually every few minutes for fear of losing my progress. I really wish I could play this game, I love the gameplay so very much, but the bugs kill it. Still awaiting a new patch since the last July 1st one :(

so after 8 months, there are still bugs? yikes....

I have a laptop that barely runs Empire: Total War and I am loving it. Even though all the graphic settings are on low I discovered I could change the unit detail to medium and change the unit size to large and experience no hang-up with the game's performance.

I haven't put as much time into it as Gen. Patton but I can see how he would be frustrated to play it that much and then have it crash. The game is working great for me, and I just love that there are finally naval battles in this series.

Keep your eyes open for deals and stuff. I want to say that several weeks ago Steam did a 25% or 50% weekend deal for it.

Multiplayer? I played a few with one of our fellow clan members and had a blast even though I got my butt kicked (until we did a naval battle). If you post around on our forums you can build a friend list of fellow Edge Gamers who play the game, then when you want to play you should be able to grab someone without too much difficulty.
