I don't have a pet, my parents have a couple of dogs at their house though a yellow lab and then a yellow lab/Australian shepherd mix

This was for Halloween - we called her "Pumpkin". Orange body and a green tail (for the vine... get it?)

Wow that is umm... strange... I kind of would like to hear about that, I mean I have never seen that before so yeah... Well I take that back I have seen it as a prank, not a umm "tradition"

Neither have I, I've seen dressing your pets up, but not coloring them to match the holiday. Thats pretty good. Your cats probably didn't like it too much XD

Maybe try a camo look for the dog and then release it in the forest/woods... then get your kids, if they have too much energy, to find him/her!

Did you guys really paint your cat?! How the heck did you do that?

As for my pets, they're both back at my parents' house. I have a Boston Terrier and a Pit Bull Terrier. They're really awesome, even if the pit bull is a little bit on the stupid side.

Oh, and Norman is amazingly adorable. So, that makes Dingo crazy.

Well the tradition started back in 2006. My wife had thyroid cancer and had a surgery to remove her thyroid. During the surgery the doc accidentally severed the nerve that controls one of her vocal chords - thus paralyzing it. She had major swelling and they ended up needing to give her a tracheotomy (hole in the throat that she breathed through). She was in the hospital / intensive care for a while. Needless to say it was a stressful time for the family.

We were coming up on Easter and I lit on the idea of 'dyeing the cat' instead of eggs as a way of trying to lighten the mood in the house. The kids loved it so when the 4th rolled around we did it again... and again... and again...

Ouray - the cat, didn't seem to mind it so much. All we did was rub food coloring onto her fur. It fades naturally after a couple of weeks. Just in time for the next holiday. An all white cat is helpful. Makes for a nice canvas.

My wife no longer has the trach but her vocal chord is still paralyzed. She had follow up surgeries that propped up the paralyzed chord in her throat so she can talk. She's cancer free. Ouray died earlier this spring at the ripe old age of 21 but Molly (the dog) is still around and I think will take Ouray's place in our tradition.

Now she's a Year and a Half old.. And living LARGE.

She's a Ladie... Named Ellie... awwee... And YES, im a Cat guy, So EAT it!

No, no replacement cat. We still have another cat - but she's brown and black. Molly will have to do for now

Wow, that's very strange to colour a cat. My neice once broke a big jar of red dye and while we went to get towels to clean it up, their cat decided it roll around in it (I have no idea why!). It stayed half red for a long time. I will look for the pictures soon, but I have to scan them.

Also, 21 years for a cat is amazing! Maybe the food colouring had some good stuff in it!
