recommended 7 strings?

Hey guys and gals (depending on who responds or looks at this), ive been thinkin' for a while now about guitars, and i just can’t decide what to go with.

ive been looking at this Trans Black
Dean Vendetta VNXM 7-String Electric Guitar, Ibanez xiphos 7string with 27 frets, Schechter Omen-7 (7string omen of course), ESP LTD Stephen Carpenter Signature Series 7-String SC-207,

Or just going out and just building a custom 7string design that no one has attempted or made with this exact design I want that has not been seen (or at least I have not heard or seen anyone with this amazing design in my head)

it would be roughly a little over 200 for most the parts excluding body wood. So thats the pickups, 24 jumbo fret neck, grove tuners, either string through bridge or a floyed rose system, either a 3 way selector or a 5 way selector (or more, depending if i attempt a 2 humbuckers and 2 single coils on one guitar, or just going with 2 esp pickups or 2 Seymour Duncan pickups)

the reason why i want a 7string is because i want a wider tone range, and i can make songs differently than most bands. and because im in a metal band, and i want to beef up my tone with that extra tone to it, and make it make peoples ears bleed so bad they just want to hear more shreding.

pawn shops are a great place to pick up your first instrument

- they might not have a seven string, though

If it's your first guitar I would recommend sticking with a 6 string instead of a 7.

if your just starting you really should start with a 6-string but if your going to get a 7 anyways i would go with ibanez or esp or one of the musicmann john petrucci models.

if your just after 7 strings for the tone a drop tuneing and a decent amp will take you just as far.

any who ive been playin guitar for at least 6 or 9 maybe 10 years, i dont recall.


to bullet ive been using drop tunings, im currently using drop a, so i guese i cant really go lower. ( low to high strings A E A D F# B) (and B E A D F# B) (i guese its good to mention im also wanting to learn fear factory songs, which require 7 strings) (Also i mostly play drop C, drop A, and B standard).

i do have a decent amp, and when i play on other peoples amps, i always use my line 6 uber metal pedal for my Signiture tone (yes signiture because im awesome like that and because thast the tone of my band)



to lotus: i hear pawnshops are good, my friend got a nice single humbucker warlock design with 24 frets and a nice fender amp for a fair price, i just might get a half stack and a 7 string while im there

oh night slayer, on behalf of myself I apologize...I did not read your posts, but i skimmed over the posts that people posted before i did, so i got the impression that you were a beginner, now that i have read your post however, although I do not play on 7 string, (I have a Seagull S6 Acoustic Electric, So as you can see im more of a jason mraz like person) heres a seven string I found that critics say seemed okay: http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Dean-Razorback-7-255-7-String-Electric-Guitar?sku=515818

i know its expensive, but you save over 700 dollars anyway...but thats just my suggestion from my 7 string guitar friends

anywho, thats a tad over what im wanting to spend, it is nice though. im more or less looking in the range of $100-$699 max
