Should eGO expand to mobile?

Hey guys, I was just wondering your input on this. Do you guys think that Edge Gamers should have a mobile (cellphones, mobile devices) addon to this site? For example if there was going to be a scrim or something, then we could update on a cellphone for a certain division if a person is away from home or not at a computer.

sounds like he's proposing a texting deal of some sort to update people for scrims and whatnot.

not sure if it would work, based on that actually being expensive to start up, and people would have to pay to support the service so eGO doesn't go broke.

An iPhone app that sends us alerts when there is an event starting. You can subscribe to the divisions depending on which games you play.

Would be epic.

I find it unecassary...it would be cool but i dont see it really helping us out too much. I mean getting twitter wouldnt be that bad because some people can receive updates on there phones from twitter. and it doesnt require giving away any private information

Hm. This has been discussed before. I think usually things are scheduled well in advance, and if a person is not at their computer, getting a mobile notification while away from their computer really wouldn't change whether/if they could show up and play.

If you really want it, sign up for RSS / RSS to email updates.

OTOH, several (main + one for each div) twitter account would do the trick, as long as someone updated it.

but if you aren't at your computer, why would you need to know if there was a scrim going on? You can always look at the calendar on the website and on the steam groups that way you know in advance...
