Hey Guys,

It's just me the forum lurker. I just placed a order for trackir 5(i got a deal and a free game with it). I'm excited to say insurgency is on the list of supported games. It's pretty neat, if you guys dont know, i suggest you check it out.

Now i just need to get falcon support to respond to me and i will have a fully interactive gaming setup...

i want to watch them but youtube is loading the videos very slowly, i cant even get 5 seconds into it w/o it stopping to load.

This looks like it has potential, it would just be a real pain to get used to.

If you consider these type of "novelty" items/controllers, such as this and the Novint Falcon, as stepping stones for the future controller and game devices, the future looks very bright. This, like all new controllers/devices, will take some time to get used to. When you do, it will be that much more immersion into a game.

I think this is a great idea, atleast as far as I can tell from a couple of videos. If games will pick up on it and support it on a wide scale, I will definitely make this a purchase.

I believe most games support it, or build it right into the code(insurgency) but how much of the device is unlocked is really up to the game developers. I think it works in most standard games where you can have the mouse look. I'll keep you guys updated, hopefully i get it on friday , as i can spend some time on the weekend with it. I'm on call and can't go away, so i will "test" it alot this weekend if it arrives in time...

OMG... COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!!!!!! Too bad I have to pay for school right now! What a time to be alive to have enough free time to game like crazy!

"AAAAUUUUUGGGG!!!!! MY ARMS!!! WHY AREN'T MY ARMS ATTACHED TO MY BODY???? MEDIC!!!!"

I actually like that you can look to the side when you're scoped. *wonders if that would be considered an exploit?*

i want to watch them but youtube is loading the videos very slowly, i cant even get 5 seconds into it w/o it stopping to load.

Just start the video - hit pause and come back to it in 5 min. It will download the video and you can watch without the load time.

im not sure, i think it would be better if it didnt turn the camera but your body on FPS games just doesnt look right this way IMO

Now that is just amazing. This is the first I'm hearing about the TrackerIR. Where can you find these at and how much do they run?

I can see myself falling out of my chair trying to lean around corners with that

Well the nice thing is it's totally customizable. Basically, if you look 2 inches to the left IRL, it might be 90 degree's in game, you can set it up that way. So you dont have to look away from the screen to look left/right/etc. But ya, my order has shipped, i should have it tommorow or friday!

Honestly, that is awesome. It wouldn't disturb my playing at all and I would take no time to use it perfectly. The falcon is different.

Man, that would be really cool for racing games and I guess flight sims(never played one), but how much more load is it putting on your computer when playing it in an fps? Is it just me or did it seem a bit jerkish in the youtube clip?

I don't know about Flashpoint as I've never played it, but the nodding and leaning when you lean is pretty cool. It'd be odd to see someone turn their head 180 degrees and look behind themselves though...

Also, there's not many times I want to be looking in a totally direction than my gun is pointed (unless running to cover maybe).

It looks like a very neat piece of technology though.

im wondering about how much it cost you because on the hardware side at least it is based on very simple and cheap technology just infrared lights and a camera that can see infrared light

Just something that would be quite difficult to get used to, INS would need to put the ragdolls in full body or w.e, attaching the arms to something. I don't know, I think this would be awesome and I agree with Caffeine when he says this is just a stepping stone for a greater and more interactive gaming experience.

This is a great setup .. even more of the reason for me to get 2 more 24wide inc flat screens lol
