Champions Question

For those who played Open/Closed Beta....

So, I hear Champions uses a one server/many shards concept similar to Guild Wars. How does this work?

This is really disappointing to me and will probably keep me from playing. I didn't like the way Guild Wars worked and I won't like anything similar. You lose a sense of community.

Just curious what your thoughts are...

It's actually not that bad. I am part of a online MMO community that is very similar to eGO. More about the community then the game. WIth Champions, once you decide on a server for your guild/clan/super group, you should choose it once you log in. Each one had pretty good numbers. The thing is many were mistaken in thinking CO was going to be like City of Heroes. Where nearly everything you do requires nothing of the games community. In CO, this is not true. They are having public quests, a lot of group quests, "raids" per sey, and then there is the end game stuff like never before.

The Omega system is after you hit max level you basically start a whole other game. One with it's own quest, own currency, etc. There will even be quests that are specific to those heroes who have "trained" to be the most powerful Omega Hero.

Then there is the nemesis system. This is godly! You create your own nemesis, with his own hencmen, quests, backstory, etc. Then you and a group of your friends can play through a storyline that is basically created by you.

Other then the fact the game can be a little tough on older PC systems, the sever shard thing should NOT be something that prevents people from playing this game. Heck, if you are going to play let me know. We are not goin official in-game so the normal "membership" requirements are nul and void, so I can get you an invite to our group, at least you will have laid back, mature people to group up with.

It's an interesting system and one that works on many levels...but it's not my cup of tea.





...Then again I don't really like MMO's and just join betas for free entertainment.
