Critical queston

ok this is my specific question on these.... the first one (AMD X2 7750+) is a 2.7 ghz speed...while the second one (the quad) is only 1.7 ghz.... so does this mean it's better to get the first one if you never really plan on runnning another major program while playing games? Additonally the first one has 6 g ram versus 4 for the second one.

Question on how dual core works...lets say the recommended system requirements say " any multi core system" @ 2.0 ghz or higher.........well would this mean the Quad core @ 1.7 ghz would NOT MEET THIS requirement as the first one would? IF THIS is the case then I would rather have two cores running at 2.7 ghz than 4 running at 1.7 ghz (1 ghz faster per core)..

THIS IS MY MAIN CONSIDERATION BEFORE BUYING IN TWO HOURS FROM NOW!

id say the first one but your gonna need to upgrade the gpu if you want to play source games on anything but low.

The processor in the second one is ok but its only 1.7ghz. so i dont think it would meet system requirements for some games.

ps. whats your budget? have you tried checking out ibuypower or syberpowerpc or anything to see if you can get a pre-built gaming pc from them in your budget?

well i hope it isn't too late, but the dual core would blow that quad core right out of the water because of its higher ghz. you will be able to game better, run programs better/faster etc. its all about speed (ghz) not necessarily how many cores you have.....and you'll easily be able to get that processor up to 3 ghz overclock on air cooling too. the only problem with both of them is it doesn't come with a graphics card really...but you can spend 50-100 bucks on getting a great card (for instance you can buy a 9800 GTX+ for 100 bucks right now on newegg.com and/or tigerdirect.com....after mail-in-rebate)

just in time dude...was fixing to walk out the door...I agree with you..the dual core in this case would rein...going to get it shortly..

thanks for the feedback...

I have an idea, You buy the first 1, And then you buy the second one for me... Sound good?
