I installed windows 7 today and it is amazing.

To be honest, at this point, people that complain about Vista don't really know what they are talking about. Windows 7 is Vista with lipstick. It doesn't use as much RAM as Vista, but that's because Vista caches. It lets go of the cache if you need RAM for something else.

true it has a ram caching system more like linux they just did a bad job at showing the user that so most people thought it had a huge memory footprint when most of the ram is used in temporary data caches

I think u can still get the RC key, but cant download the .iso from microsoft anymore. Thats why i downloaded all versions before it was removed and have the keys ready, directly from MS. If you do see a decent looking torrent , just make sure the file is a .iso and .iso only. No Rar's or anything else. I think its only 2.5 gb anyway.

Just an FYI. I installed W7 a week ago and once i got everything installed, CSS had double the ping and it would always be choppy for me. Did some searching around and this was what I found to do. I did it and it brought everything back to normal. Ping time low again and smooth gameplay.

i had the same problem you have but after some research i found a fix.
What is causing the lag is the "Multimedia Class Scheduller" service. all you need to do is disable the service. sound is dependent on this service so you will then need to run regedit,then find HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServic esAudiosrvDependOnService double click on it and remove MMCSS from the list

reboot and play lagfree.

From what I hear, the sound is much better in W7. I might possibly look into getting it with my new rig come Christmas.
