its alot of work, depending on what country you want it to come from it changes prices of things and etc. one of my friends was looking at grabbing an r33 skyline, but once he found out how much it would cost to put it into a container, put it thru customs, wait it to be cleared, and etc, he changed his mind.

There is so many things that you have to do the car before it even leaves its native country, it has to be clean of all soil/dirt, it has to be steam sprayed to take off any sort of things that we dont want here, for example bugs. than you have to clear it thru customs with all the proper paperwork from epa, ici, and etc, and btw, it has to be in english. Then it has to meet the emissions standards of the laws and code to the country.

I think that really sums it up in less than a paragraph really, but if your really serious bout getting a vehicle from another country you could always call customs, the EPA, or the DOT, they would have some of the information that would make thing a lil bit easier.

And on a side note, why are you looking at getting a car from another country? what kind of car?

yea Ive been researching on it.... I was looking on importing a rx-7 ..... I pretty much want to start my own business doing that importing cars and selling them here for profit but I don't wanna mess with anything big like a skyline or a silvia which are nearly impossible to make street legal I say that because skylines are 16-25k to make street legal which is crazy....You can find rx-7's in japan anywhere ranging from 3-10k for a nice low mile one.... then its like 2k to import and about 5-6k to make street legal

if you're going to import a car for tuning, please don't put ridiculous wide bodykits and bumpers, ect. on it, most imports look nice enough as is

IE: dont do this to it:
ricer_civic_2.jpg

or anything along those lines

Why are you looking at importing an RX7? they are very abundant in the states? just go on ebay or go to a dealer around you, theyd most likely have one.

In japan they have special edition 1's like type R's plus the rx-7's that where made here had weaker output then the 1's in Japan
Heck no I'm not a ricer.
Yup you can do that too I have a sr20det in my 240sx but to important engines from japan you have to buy in abundants

i would get a s15 if I just wanted to drift but I want the car street legal as everyday use ....and s15's are impossible to make street legal
