So...am I killing myself?

It's not a drink, but an apple provides you with more energy than caffeine does.

Energy drinks aren't good for you even/especially when you're exercising. Caffeine increases your blood pressure and the sugar dehydrates you. You shouldn't be drinking them on a regular basis even if you're in good health. They sure do taste good though.

To add to the scary stories a close friend of mine was hospitalized because he dehydrated himself by only drinking Mountain Dew and energy drinks. Later in life it will also come back to haunt you because you're greatly increasing your risk of kidney stones, which are extremely painful..

You shouldn't be drinking those things in the first place.
Bravo has it right, Try drinking some hot tea, some have caffeine in them and it is MUCH better for your body than the energy drinks.

A study in Taiwan confirmed that people who drink an average of 1 (JUST ONE) cup of green tea a week were much healthier than people who drink energy drinks (or anyone for that matter) and weighed an average of 20lbs lighter than people who didnt drink tea.

Oh yes, I should have mentioned that when I mentioned actually burning all the energy: you obviously still need other things or else you'll burn too much energy.

That's the problem with energy drinks: there's no balance. They give you too much energy or too little energy (which, come to think of it, is accurately portrayed by Bonk :P)

I would be wary of studies like that and drawing loose conclusions. There is a bunch of unknowns that the researchers don't control for. You can't point to one thing and say that's the reason they weigh less. Maybe people who drink green tea regularly tend to have other behaviors that cause them to be healthy, like getting regular exercise and eating healthy foods. I doubt the researches controlled every aspect of their test subjects lives forcing the test groups and control groups to eat the same things and participate in the same activities. There is lots of really shady "research" conducted by, for example, green tea manufacturers.

I can almost guarantee this is how the "study" went.

Ring... Ring... Ring...

Test subject: Hello
Researcher: Hello wold you like to participate in a study?
Test subject: Sure!
Researcher: How much, if any, green tea do you drink?
Test Subject: 1 Cup per day! (or no cups)
Researcher: That's great! How much do you weigh?
Test subject: Why X pounds of course! (add ten pounds to stated weight if it's a female test subject :P)
Researcher: Have a nice day!

Then USA Today picks up on the "study" and publishes it in their factoids section as "science".

Sorry I'm a bit of a stickler for this...but sources?

Drinking in energy drinks is like consuming a chemical plant, it would be best if you didn't drink them at all..

Water > all.
