Just wondering if you can get banned using the idle program is it possible at all because getting a hat isn't worth losing half my games if it is.

EDIT: running the idle program by itself will not get you banned.

If you start up TF2 while running it, you may receive a VAC ban in the future - but this is not for sure. Seems like there are mixed opinions/facts here.

i know about that i was just wondering if while sitting on my desktop while doing idle if i could get banned

Nope, as far as Steam is concerned, the idle program is just like playing tf2. No danger of getting a ban unless you join another VAC tf2 server.

As far as I know, only if you start up TF2 while running the Idle Program. Doing this will get you VAC banned - which is permanent and irreversible.

Again, this is only what I've read from others.

No it won't. It's like running two instances of the game, it just says you're already in a server or w/e the message is. I did it once on accident, no ban.

Like I said, I based my statement off of what I've read.

Just to clarify, the idle program currently does not have any effect on your Steam account. But, Valve is aware of the program. I suggest checking the TF2 section of the Steam forum daily just to see if theres a issue.

If you run idle program, then open TF2 and join VAC server, you will be VAC banned that's what beta told me, but, there could be other ways

I have connected twice with idler running. Once the thing told me to turn the idler off, the other the idler lost cenenction to steam (acc being used elsewhere)

You can not get banned at all. I ran the Idle Program while playing on an eGO servr and nothing happened. I played for about 2 hours.......then I had to do some work...........

VAC bans do not happen instantly, they take time. Some times even two weeks. I guess we will have to wait and see.

right click on someone or yourself when using the idler and look at the game info, it will say that the game is not VAC secured. No VAC no VAC ban. Case closed.

I may be getting VAC banned soon then, seeing as how today I accidentally ran both at once for about 10 minutes

Sucks to be me

This thread made me find out about the idler...
YAY an option to delete the lowest level duplicate if I get a duplicate. Except hats.

i accidently joined tf2 servers with idel opened..
no ban yet and i did it very often when i was stoned

For the last time people:

You won't get banned if you run TF2 and the Idler at the same time!

I did, many other people have, and those people are still playing. Now stop stressing about it kthx.
