Help with fallout 3 start

Strength- Allows your character to carry more equipment, and do more damage with meele weapons.
perception- Allows you to see enemies farther away, and benifits your lockpick skill, explosives, and energy weapons.
Endurance- Increases health, poison resistance, Rad resistance and benifits your big guns skill and unarmed.
Charisma- Increases disposition of of all NPC's and benifits speech and barter skills.
Intelligence-Doesent do much but benifits Medical, Repair, And science skills.
Agility-Increases action points available for VATS and benifits small guns and sneak.
Luck-Increases all skills (not as much as choosing one specific stat) and increases critical chance and and random encounters.

You choose them the way you want to play.

Strength and Agility are nice starters, just because VATS is your friend and obviously the more things you can carry, the more you can sell for other things you might need. Just my opinion though.

I've played through this game many times and there aren't really alot of bad things to choose.
There are tons of different options and sooo many different things you can do. It all kind of depends on your playing style and what type of character you want to be. So just start it up and fun with it because if you're like me you'll play it more than once and you can change it all up the next time you go back through.

There is no wrong choice, just figure out how you want to play. Eventually you can max out all stats/special with some work. Also, just pick your perks wisely, only thing you cant max.

This is of course with some DLC, mainly brotherhood of steel.

If played right, with broken steel, its entirely possible to get a perfect char (10 in all stats & 100 in all skills)

No you guys are all wrong, mostly special doesn't have a LARGE effect in the game which is why Intelligence is the best skill, for it raises the amount of skill points you get when you level up, I always set my characters at 9 intelligence and asap head to rivet city and grab the intelligence bobblehead. I usually sacrifice perception for this, strength doesn't matter too much if you are making a ranged character. Luck is great to have, set it around 7. I try to keep charisma around 5. Otherwise it is up to personal preference.

If you mean points as in tagging your skills then that is all up to how you want to play. I usually choose lockpick as one of my tags and sneak as another then supplement that with a combat skill.

Dont take perks that just raise your skill levels like gun nut, these are wastes of perks in my eyes, For level 2 I suggest Black Widow/Lady Killer and for level 3 special training to up something you think you want more of. Just remember that increasing a perk to level 10 is a waste because you can raise each special stat by one with bobbleheads. I wouldn't reccomend raising luck to 9 either because you have the bobblehead for it and another item which raises luck by 1 when you carry it.

Perception is your friend. SERIOUSLY.

Lol, that's so true at least from my experience with fallout 3. Last thing you want is to be rocketed in the face by a mutant because you didn't see him coming, or worse a death claw (Albino scorpions are just as bad too).

If your going to use rifles and pistols a lot I suggest hit agility off with 9pts early on and perception at 7 or 8. The rest is up to you. Like everyone says, it doesn't matter what you put and there is a high likely chance you will make more than one character. :) Happy fraggin' :P

Without the DLCs it is still possible to get 100 in every skill if you are diligent in finding skill books. However I reccomend you just build your character as you please at first then figure out what works best for you. However you still can not get 10 across the special board.

As people have said before, it doesn't impact too much, but find out what kind of character you want. Ones you definitely DON'T want to give up are Intelligence (more skill points) and Strength (carry more gear). I usually lower Luck and maybe Perception if I need to. Remember there is also the Intense Training Perk, which I take when there is nothing better that I want (mainly the beginning).

I don't find strength very important if you are not using a melee/unarmed character. The carry weight can easily by circumvented by fast traveling back to your house and dumping gear.

Hehe, I used Prototype medic armor when I had low perception. But it doesn't help when you try to sneak with it. :P

Yeah but you shouldn't be doing stealth game play with power armor on anyways, its too heavy, use recon armor for that, best stealth outfit in the game without DLCs, however I'm not sure if the recon armor helmet gives you a bonus to sneak because in that case it would be better to use the shady hat you get from doing the mirelurk portion of the wasteland survival guide quest without killing any of them.

we could tell ya, but the best part about fallout is you make your own path. So build your character how you want, not how he want.
