The Geneva Conventions only covers international armed conflicts. As the RED and BLU teams are hired mercenaries fighting with each other, medics can still be shot.

Pyros are not to be treated lighthearted. I can't recall how many times I've died from the DoT of the flamethrower.

Pyro doesn't really use a flamethrower, per se.

A real flamethrower actually shoots fuel gel and has a massive range. The flame itself is also actually dense enough to break through windows and wooden walls and stuff like that.

The Pyro's flamethrower seems to be some sort of mix between a propane tank and a gas station fuel pump. His flame seems to be entirely propane-based (so his fire really should be blue, but whatever) and it certainly lacks the physical punch real flamethrowers have.

The Pyro should totally explode when killed, doing some splash damage. It'd be an interesting game mechanic, indeed. Only when shot from behind or the sides, though.
