Why was my post removed "attempted hijack by an ego"

i'm writing this post to ask why was my previous post removed. the post talked about the situation that i encountered yesterday by an EGO who tried to hijack my account.

he requested me to register on ScrappyIsAwesome.com through steam message which was obviously an hijack attempt as i searched up the website on google and no results came up. also he did not replie to me when i asked him to make the steam group on steam instead of a website with tk extension.

Unfortunately it was a scammer who scammed that eGO members account. They don't typically care about removing the tags from the accounts they get before trying to get more accounts

Thanks for bringing it to our attention so their admin can be suspended, but the only other thing to do is ignore those kinds of phishing attempts.

Last night on Black Mesa I suggested that you use the drop box here on the forums. Had you hung around I would have given you the heads up that Kanthon was aware that his account was hijacked and that his admin was removed until he got it back.

I had the samething yesterday too..Just from a different person in eGO.

Ok, a few things:

A) We don't need threads on this. PM leaders or use the drop box.
B) Don't ever give out your password.
C) If you have admin and your account is stolen, get a leader to remove your admin until you get yourself up and running again.

With thousands of members, eGO - like any other large organization - has members who fall for various phishing attempts.

Once an account is hijacked, it will then be used to obtain userids/passwords of other accounts.

As others have noted, in the future, please let a member of the leadership team know if you experience issues in the future.

I'll do you a favor and just edit your post rather than trash it.
