In light of recent events, 3rd party programs of simulating speccing servers have been banned. In response idling will continue. So admins be ready to kick people running in circles in spawn, sitting spec in full servers, and possibly taking your spot in server! This is a a response to Valve's

I had no issue with people idling. The only reason I didn't like people idling was because I would try and talk to them and they wouldn't respond even though they're in-game, only to realize that they're idling.

I personally was uncomfortable with the fact of getting items outside of the game, and I have been the same way with every class update. I've never entered an achievement server and every achievement I've gotten was through regular gameplay.

That's just me though and I can completely understand why people chose to idle. I think that the punishment is harsh for previously announcing that it was ok, then giving absolutely no warning to a policy change.


But hey, I got a new hat that's equippable on every class

I'm pretty sure that I didn't even keep any of the idle-gotten items. Bugger.

I think that Valve ought to fix what seem to me are glaring game exploits before taking action against third-party apps, especially since people will just move right on over to idling servers anyway.

Don't they have bigger people to hit up? You know like Hackers... They shouldn't have taken away all those items but just warned us and shut it down.

Thankfully I don't have any hats, I used the idler and never got a hat... just a ton of duplicate items... No loss for me, VALVE just cleaned out my backpack for me

I like how they reward people who don't use the idler, when their retarded system is what made people feel they had to.

Here's a novel idea: Make hats based off skill, maybe K/D. If it dips below a point your hat goes away for awhile. Stops idlers, stops farmers, bam.

But no, we'll just give them out to any random Joe who sits in Spectator.
