Goodbye Idler

This thread has proved itself to be quite the stalemate.


Also, I never lost anything, nor gained anything from this update... so I'm completely unbiased when I say this:

You are all arguing over A GAME.

This is supposed to be a 'mature' gaming clan. Most of this is thread is quite the opposite, in my opinion.

I said something similar in the closed/migrated thread, but can we just go and play the game now?

Some people idled and lost items, others didn't and got a halo. Alright, whatever. Let's move on from it and get back to killing each other and having a blast.

I'll be simple and make a proper argument... It's in the ToS, if you didn't read the ToS, that's your own fault

That goes for everybody else whining about this: it was against the ToS, simple as that, you broke the ToS, and valve is allowed to take action.

Anyway, the game is Team Fortress 2, not Halo Wars.

Move on, learn your lesson, and stop whining

I think it's pretty funny really ^^ Clearly valve doesn't tolerate it and rightly so. The point of the system is to make sure that people get them fairly, i mean botting in any game to get items/levels ect is unethical and bad really. I'm suprised valve was so light and i think people should be glad that all that was taken away was in-game hats for using 3rd party botting systems to get items.

I share my couple pennies for this.

Valve really did this the wrong way. Now we have the non-idlers who walk on the "high moral road" discriminating those who idled. Those odd 4.5% of players who might now get shunned and kicked or maybe even banned from some servers that now take Valve's new stand on idling too seriously. (This has happened already to a friend of mine.)

I do think this would've worked out better if they didn't give the halo to anyone. That's the main reason why there's a difference between the idlers and non-idlers. If it weren't for the hat, people could've just laughed at those who got some or all of their items deleted for idling, but there wouldn't be a tear within the community.

It had been said already, but Valve didn't really fix anything. They moved the problem to the serves. Where as eGO servers can benefit from seeders, since there's plenty of eG's and eGO's that can kick the seeders when there's a need for player slots, not all servers have that any. Even when the program was still up, people would idle on normal servers and block people from playing or making uneven teams when Red has 16 active players and Blu has 10 active + 6 idlers.


tl;dr Valve is racist.

2. They increased the droprate significantly on both items and hats
3. Be glad they didn't just VAC ban everyone who idled (myself included)

Everyone is acting like they've never gotten in trouble before. We got caught, and we got punished for abusing the system. End of story. I'm glad Valve did this. The game was becoming FAR less fun because of it.

And in the midst of all this, no one even noticed some of the things that they fixed in the recent patch (ie. being unable to flame people in the water now! Finally!)

As an idler myself, I couldn't care less that they did this. It motivates me to play the game more so now which was something I severely lacked for several weeks. Get in there and seed those servers or just play the game but take it with some stride and grace.

what im pissed about is that i had all my items...but and i deleted the ones i got regularly, so i had them for real, then they took the ones i didn't delete away. oh well, it was on the cloak&dagger and Bonk! so could've been worse...

Alright guys - let's not let this split the community. If you chose to use the idler previously, then so be it. If you didn't, then that's fine too. There's no point in arguing the situation at this point
