Basically yes, even though it's not technically hacking He just got duped into giving someone his account info and they took it over.

Yeah this has been going on straight for a good week or so, its really annoying hearing about it... bottom line just don't click on any links that someone sends you, unless you know the person.

That's the problem: If someone you know gets hacked and a message is sent to you from their account, it looks like you know the person even though it's a dangerous link.

The best thing to do is to learn what a typical spam message looks like and if someone gives you a link to a steam page, just go to the Steam website manually - this way you can know that you aren't going to an illegitimate site.

Phishing is attempting to get usernames/passwords by pretending to be an official website/email from a company.

If you have been 'phished', you gave your username and password to a hacker by attempting to enter them in a fake version of a website.

gotta say, Cant really be suprised with how some people spam these phishing sites in a big community or any community in general. Sad I must say. Oh and yea, dont get sucked in by their sweet words guys.
