Champions online - Worth it?

I did this before but it says i am on my 30 days free trail... Are the serverrs down for everybody else?

i just checked with a friend who has the game says servers have been up

Alright so i've read a lot about this game, but I can't seem to get a good feel for the gameplay. Can anyone tell me how much like City of H/V this one is? I ask this because I hated the gameplay in that one and don't wanna spend $50 on this and hate it as much as I did City.
