I will be playing at least a month as I got a free Digital CE from NCSoft for the Tabula Rasa closing. Just not sure when I am actually going to activate it as I am playing CO and just purchased a copy of that as well.

i am hoping to start an eGO guild on vaizel, so im glad you all are joining that server, makes it way easier to start the guild, i have messaged Gardengrove to ask permission, i set up a forum to tell your character name. the Guild will be asmodian just to let everyone know

I'm gonna be in the open beta, and i'll continue if I think it's worth it. Downloading the client now so it's ready for tomorrow when it starts.

Hey, if you guys downloaded the torrent please go back into your torrent program and seed. I'm waiting for the download to finish. It DL'd all night and made it to 82%.

ok... so i finally dl'd and installed, however now it won't let me log in with my NCSoft info. Is this an open beta you can only play if you bought the game? Or am I completely missing the create Aion account button? I've looked all over and checked for ways to add it to my master account, but I can't figure it out. Anyone have any ideas?
Did you get your beta key? I'm pretty sure they said you need to get one from fileplanet or something.

Really? I've never heard of needing a special key for an Open Beta... I guess I must have misread everything about it.... Why can't beta's be simple things anymore?
Edit :: Ok, so I checked a little more into this, and guess what? The game is in fact, not an Open Beta as advertised. It is a File Planet only beta being continued. And before any of you say "oh well its open to all file planet users!" no. I'm sorry, but this is not open. It is only available to those that pay monthly for FilePlanet, thus making it a closed beta as it is not open to all users.
Sorry, but I guess I won't be playing this game. I'm not going to support something that encourages paid beta tests. They shouldn't be able to charge people to play in any beta ever as we are doing them a service, even if it is in a round-a-bout sort of way. It's simply greedy and underhanded to do something like this. And to further this point, why wouldn't they mention that you need to be a FilePlanet paying subscriber anywhere on the official website for the game or the beta information? Because they want you to download the client and then if you want to use it, you have to subscribe to FilePlanet and essentially pay a monthly fee for the game during beta.

Or if you pre order the game (like I did on steam) you get a beta key with the purchase and 7 days free game time. I added a month to my account already because you pretty much have to when you add the steam key to your master account. You don't have to use Fileplanet. Yeah they say open beta.. but not really.. It's still kind of closed to pre orderer's only. It's a great game though. Although... half the classes I've seen were just scout and warrior. Seems like WoW again. Everyone uses one class. We'll see how it goes. It will definitly be a great game though.

... for the most part, the money isn't going to the Aion team. They, as well as most companies lately, ask FilePlanet to distribute their games because FilePlanet already has a truly massive distribution system already in place, with no worries about server loads and download speeds. They pass off a huge portion of what would normally take considerable resources, to somebody else.
That said, the fileplanet fee is really quite cheap. I pay it simply to avoid the lines... regardless of beta possibilities.
