dying without honor

Guys, i don't know about you, but it thought this wasn't allowed. If i'm in the server i really hope i don't see anyone do that. I don't care about your points, if you don't like it then you can get out. I see winning a round a chance to get that extra point, like a bonus round. But seriously, dont do it guys, its not allowed and its disrespectful to the other admins who follow the rules.

Ok here are the official rules on spec jumping/ suicide after round end:

Its against the rules!

If your team wins, Blue, I bet that you hunt for people to kill. The game is designed to give you a chance for a few free kills if your team wins, so if you lose...suck it up. IT'S A GAME!!!

If a player is caught doing either, they should and will be kicked. repeat offenders should get extended vacations.

Spec jumping has been against the rules for... 3 years now. Here are some tidbits from the past that should help:

DONT SPEC JUMP. It is used to gain advantage in the game by some, and isn't appropriate for an admin on our server.

If you see a player do this kick them right then and there.

Let me put it this way you see someone spec jump kick them and send me a pm with the name and time. I will have a talk with them and if it happens again I will ban the person. Yes even if they are an eGO I will ban them!

As Deets said, it is against the rules to spec jump. Suiciding at the end of the round to avoid being killed is the same as spec jumping. I find it humorous that the same people who will break the rules to avoid losing points (that don't mean anything) will still take advantage of shooting "unarmed" people on the losing team when the tables are turned.

Rules to live by

Thank you FluffyTDestroyer and DirtyDeets for the clarification on the spec jump/suiciding issue. I see no confusion now and rules are rules.

To those of you who care about points great, and if you don't care about points great, but at least we can all be great admins by upholding the rules.

Sincerely,
Boyle

I will clarify myself again

Now ask yourself this; do you kill the poor unarmed axis when you win?

-- Ill answer for you...YES

You cant play on both sides of the fence, calling the actions of other players cowardly when you hop into a safety blanket to get away from getting killed ONCE at the end of the round. If you want the glory kills then face the music like a man (or woman).

-Stormy

im not playing both sides of a fence. yes i do kill people after the round, but I could care less if they suicide or get away. Im not saying you shouldnt be able to kill people after the round (and im not sure where you got that idea from), but that suiciding should not be a problem. And when i say suiciding i do NOT mean spec jumping. The two are totally different.

Aditionally, i stopped "hunting" for people after i got the take no prisoners achievement.

I would also like to add, yes, the rules have been like that for 3 years as you say, but the alterations to the stats system have not always been there.

In conclusion, I am not saying suiciding after rounds should be allowed, but rather pointing out the unfairness in stealing points.

I think it's way more fun to stare at someone at the end of the round when they know their life is at your mercy. Just stare at them and give a little nod and let them fear and anticipate their death and just never pull the trigger. You guys have that ever happen to you? I don't know, I think it's a cool feeling

I would rather that we, as members, choose to not kill people after the round is over. It used to that HLX stats went down after the round was over. I think this falls under the "point farming" category. Some people really do care about points. I don't think we should punish those that cannot defend themselves.

To the victor go the spoils. Sorry, Baumer, it's just how it's ALWAYS been. At the end of the round, the winning team gets a "bonus slaughter round" that lasts...what, roughly 8-12 seconds, if that? Consider it a perk of being on the winning team.

The point system has flaws, yes. But, there's also a major flaw with the ranking system in general, in the fact that people base their worth on their rank in a video game. Yes, people actually "work" their butts off - to be higher ranked at virtually killing other people in a video game that has no impact on their real life reputation or value... that people actually get upset that some one scored better than them... that some how, how many points a person gets for virtually shooting another player regardless if they are armed, unarmed, AFK, drooling on their keyboard, or clicking just as furiously to get away, actually makes some kind of impact on their fragile psyche...

Again, folks - it's a game. Let's have fun with it. If you are so worried about your ranking, your points, and what's fair in a war game setting - then how do you ever have time to enjoy it? Or admin the servers?

Lead by example. Play the game to have fun. Abide the rules. Enjoy yourselves. And if your temper is getting out of control because players who are new to our servers are taking away too many of your points - then take a break for a bit. Get on Vent and crack up with the rest of the community. Do something productive. But don't base your self worth on your ability to click your mouse faster than an 11 year old on two doses of Monster energy drink. It's just not worth it.

Well this is the first I've heard of it being against rules. I've done it loads of times without issue but I guess I cant now. Personally I'm not really into stats anymore. Its fun to see how you do against others, but I've lost nearly 1000 points in the last week because I stopped caring about ranking as high as I could. I made it to the top 25 once but it was too hard to maintain that position. Now I just play the way I want and dont really mind losing a bunch of points, but it still kinda sucks. The only reason I kill myself after a round is because I think its funny, letting someone come up to you with a knife thinking they're getting an easy kill and killing yourself at the last second. I did it just for laughs but if its against rules I'll stop.

However I do think its ridiculous that ppl get massive points for killing unarmed players. I just got out of a terrible game on Flash where we were losing badly. One player got 25 points for killing me after winning the round. 25! Now I have to get a good kill streak just to make up for it. If it was 1 or 2 points for killing after the end of a round thats fine, but 25? That is unfair and stupid.

Most of you make good "points" on the issue at hand.
I understand it must suck for peeps who would like to watch how they stack up against others with their points and Like "shake the crime stick" and others have mentioned, it sux to lose so many points when your team sux so badly. And then taking so long to regain them back.
But we all know now what the rule is when playing in the eGO servers so I would suggest respecting what has been said. Either pick another server or HEY enjoy the BLOODY GAME!!! :)

TAZ

P.S I think my buddy (IO)SA knows how many points I have, because I sure don't

Well if I were ever to kill myself after winning a round (not that I ever do), I would think that it is because I am more comfortable with dying by my own means rather than running away or hiding like a coward and being shot down. Keep in mind, this is just a game so it's not that big of a deal to get killed and lose a few points. Still if the spec jumping/suiciding/disconnecting becomes a serious issue, is it possible just to deactivate the kill command in the console during that win round? (People who disconnect or spec jump to avoid being killed can just be warned)

Realistically... I'm just tired of hearing people complaining about this. But I figured I would add my 2 cents, instead of making a snarky comment. I have, personally, kicked people because this post-round killing causes some pubs to fly off the cuff. Resulting in a kick.
